The owner is truly an exquisite gentleman, always keen to provide us with useful advice on interesting places to visit nearby. As an avid bicycle rider, he recommended quite attractive routes. The breakfast was rich with a lot of variety. My wife has some food allergies and he made sure that she had many options nevertheless. Kranjska Gora is strikingly charming little town. There are numerous possibilities for outdoor activities: cycling, hiking, alpinism, all sorts of skiing in the winter. Strategically, it is perfectly placed: very near Triglav mountain, with remarkable views, beautiful Pisnica river, and many mountain huts where you can try local specialties.

Garni Hotel Miklič is a 3-star hotel located amidst the mountains in the town of Kranjska Gora, at the foothills of Vitranc and right next to a ski slope. A very clean and quiet family operated hotel. Quality constructed with hard wood stairs, great bathroom fixtures and comfy beds. The breakfast is fantastic. The hotel has a small gym, and you can also book your own private use of the sauna (extra fee).

Our stay at Chalet Sofija totally exceeded our expectations (which are quite high), from the moment we arrived till the moment we had to leave. First of all, the location of the chalet is out of this world, with views that take your breath away from every angle you look, whether from the room, while enjoying a nice dip in the infinity pool or eating breakfast or dinner from the terrace. The photos do not do it justice, it is unbelievable how beautiful this place is. Secondly and not less important, the hospitality of the hosts, Pop and Aleksandra together with the Manageress Alenka was exceptional throughout our stay and they went out of their way to make us feel at home and that is how we felt during the whole of our stay there. To top it up, the food was expertly prepared and was one of the finest dining experiences we have encountered, exceeding the level of many Michelin star restaurants we have dined at. Pop’s innovative cooking presented us with amazing and delicious dishes with a twist, not only for dinner but also for breakfast. He also served us with very good Slovenian wines that went really well with the dishes served. And, if this was not enough, the room was huge, exquisitely and modernly decorated but perfectly fit with the surrounding nature and offered panoramic views over the surrounding mountains and forest, with a huge terrace from where we could enjoy this beautiful nature up close. I don’t think we will ever find an accommodation in Slovenia that comes even close to what we experienced at Chalet Sofija.
