He is so friendly and recommended an amazing sushi restaurant. You can tell he really takes pride in his ryokan. The common area was lovely to spend time in and it was no issue storing our bags. The location is also easy to get to by bus from the JR station and it's a short walk to the main Nara sights (or you can rent his bikes for cheap). So welcoming and comfy. 10/10 recommend.

Amazing collection of current and historical decors and antiques. There was intentional detail showing the mastery of japanese craft, from the doors to walls, even the hanging rack for clothes. The garden was also curated with collected rocks, small fountains, and provided a serene environment to truly enjoy this older folk house.
