The building was previously owned by the Austrian Catholic Diocese and used as a Rectory. It was abandoned and left to decay in the middle of a very picturesque village. I found the house, put in an offer and after a religiously long delay, the Diocese approved the sale. I then set about renovating the whole structure, while keeping as much of the original character as possible.
I was born in Portugal, raised in Canada, lived in Los Angeles and for over twenty years just outside London. I worked many years in animation for such studios as Disney, and Hanna Barbera and Warner Brothers. After twenty years animating on films and commercials in London. I headed down here to Kärnten where I had spent some of my paragliding holidays, and here I stayed! Sara and I now live here happily with our six rescued cats.
Altersberg is a typical Alpine village sitting on the south sunny face of the Gmeineck mountain with beautiful views across the valley. The atmosphere is that of a friendly farming community, and although far away from the noise of tourist activity, it is only a 15 minute drive from all the action. A series of walks of varying difficulties begin from our front door...
