Bird Garden Guest House is lovely. The walls are decorated with photos of birds by the well known and fabulous guide Roberto Cedeno Ch. My room was large, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was fine. Everything was clean and well-organized. Elena is a gracious hostess and served a healthy breakfast every day (eggs, roll, fresh fruit, fresh juices, tea/coffee). Roberto has great tips on sights to see in Ecuador and is an experienced naturalist with a wealth of knowledge about Ecuadorian birds, plants, insects, and entire ecosystems. The location is close to a lively neighborhood with excellent restaurants (Achiote, Miskay). The outdoor, 2nd floor patio is a nice place to sit, with purple-flowered bougainvillea and lively bird visitors including the sparkling violetear hummingbird.

the rooms we occupied in the newer part above the front desk were filled with windows and one had a balcony. loved the indoor-outdoor layout of the dining area and used the common kitchen there a little. sat at the edge overlooking the river and did some birdwatching. just lovely. oh yes, super well-lighted rooms with many outlets. we would recommend the coffee tour next door.

This hostal is a gem. The staff was so helpful..we arrived with large and heavy bags and were given new rooms on the ground floor.. the management booked taxis for us with known drivers so we felt secure and comfortable. There is a nice outside area patio on upper level.

The accomodation is really nice, calm and cosy, restaurants and bars are within walking distance. The room was spacious,very proper and comfortable, the shower warm.
