Many Cordobans try to escape the air conditioning in the Cordoban Sierra. Renting in this place or taking a route along the well-known route of the bridges or the Baños de Popea baths, located nearby, can be a good option, as this is a place where vegetation and water lower the temperature by several degrees. One of the easiest and most beautiful routes that can be walked barefoot through the Sierra de Córdoba is the "Route of the Bridges", starting from the Los Arenales bridge over the Guadiato River, it will lead you to a Roman bridge over the Guadanuño River and, further on, over the remains of a caliphal bridge again over the Guadiato. Field outings are a complete sensory experience: in addition to enjoying the colors of the flowers, the varieties of green in the grove, and the shades of the mountains (which, depending on the type of rock, range from yellow to gray passing through pink, violet, white, and brown); in addition to smelling the fragrance of rockrose, heather, and myrtle, the essence of pine trees, poplars, and fig trees; in addition to listening to the singing of nightingales, cuckoos, blackbirds, tits, and dozens of other species; in addition to tasting the fruit of the strawberry tree in autumn, the slight aniseed bitterness of fennel in spring, the acidity of rosehip skin, and the sweetness of figs.
