Our house was built in the 15th century as a secondary defensive tower house for the family by the seventh son of Fernando Sanchez de Alvarado, Fernan Sanchez de Alvarado. It was a time of feuding between giles and negretes, whose main lineages were the Agüero and Velasco families. Our Alvarados belonged to the side of the Giles, together with the Solorzano, De la Vega, Sisniega,... The beginning of the lineage "The lineage of the Varado was founded in Secadura, where there was a very good ome who was called Pedro Secadura, and he earned a lot of money, and gained property, and left a fixed one who was called like his father, and a lot of property that he left, and married with a fixed one of Martín Velas de Rada, who was a very honoured ome, and obo of her fixed ones, where Fernando Sánchez del Varado came from, and Juan Sánchez del Varado, and they made this name because that Pedro de Secadura had his house beyond the river and he built a bridge of large timbers to pass over it, and he put two spans from one side to the other so that those who passed over that bridge could get close to it, and because of those spans, they called it El Varado, because it was first called Secad
