Lots of confusion with the name on our booking. It was booked and paid for under my name (I am female) but they insisted on calling us Mr & Mrs X (my fiances name). I thought this was really inappropriate and very old fashioned Spanish culture. Not good enough for 5 star in my opinion.

It's a beautiful hotel which we have stayed at a couple of times now. On the beach front, close to shops and local restaurants as well as having a great restaurant in the hotel. All the staff are friendly and helpful.

I wish the hotel would put tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. It would be the icing on the cake. Although not normal for Spanish hotels, it is expected in hotels in England and Europe generally.

Ordered porridge two mornings and both times, it was inedible. Room quite small, particularly bathroom.

The service at the Gran Melia Don Pepe was the best service I've ever experienced in a hotel. The food is delicious, lots of facilities and the location is beautiful. I'll definetely visit the hotel next year again!

Wecome plate of serano and 1/2 bottle of wine on arrival in-room. Free Canapes in special area. Oyster Bar with great cocktails. Breakfasts excellent.

Michelin Star restaurant shut. Fagoli was not up to scratch, cold soup, and when returned, it had been microwaved in same bowl. Seafood trilogy recommended in literature was much-to-do-about-nothing. My suckling pig was also a disappointment, the size of a small guinea pig without crackling. Been nice to have had the serano and wine on a daily basis.

A very good hotel - well situated. Lots of space in the hotel grounds - very clean and well looked after. not cheap but you get what you pay for.

Nice modern room with good views. Big pool area.Good location on the promenade. Picked this hotel to try the CALIMA restaurant. WOW Hotel I rate as 8.5, Calima a 10 what an experience. Loved the indoor pool as well as the outdoor.

Nothing every thing is great

The staff was very nice and there were wonderful locations. The room had a very nice view to the sea.

The music was quite loud the two last nights we spent there probably because of two weddings.

Breakfast should be included in room price €50.70 is extremely expensive for breakfast

The hotel is very well located and has lvoely views of the Marbella area. The Calima reastaurant is one of the best in Europe - dining there is an outstanding fine dining / gatronomic experience. The hotel facilities are good - it was refurbished in 2007 and while some of the decor is a bit dated, it is all in good working order.

Only criticism would be that service by the pool is too slow - there was one waitress for the entire Saturday afternoon and we waited 15 mins to prder and then another 15mins to get our drinks. there was also only 1 pool attendant for towels and loungers, which made it slow in peak times. For a 5 star hotel of this size, there should should be more staff at peak times / service areas.

Our 2 bedrooms were always cleaned very well daily and were the Superior Sea View rooms, good view of garden, pool & sea , Rooms 310 & 311 but are very small especially the ensuites with shower over baths, which surprised me. The swimming pool is nice, separate pool for small children, good idea. The pool staff work very hard all day. The Cappaccino restaurant staff were always smartly dressed & fantastic service, however I understand this is a separate company to the hotel & I'm afraid to say it is obvious given the standard of service they give. Reception staff very pleasant.

I am very surprised this is a 5 star hotel as In my opinion it does not justify having this star status. I feel there are so many levels this hotel need to improve to warrant that status & If I had ever seen any management during my stay I may have told them, not to be rude simply to give some constructive criticism. My biggest gripes would be the cigarette butts never picked up along the path from restaurant, through garden down to pool.... Nice ... Not ! & the long queues waiting to get a breakfast table, it just looks like organised chaos, one day there were 18 people queuing outside restaurant door to get a table, & more often than not not less than 8, I do not consider this good 5 star service. We ordered coffee 4 times one day at breakfast & in the end I had to go & ask if we were supposed to collect it ourselves from somewhere ? The music played throughout the hotel is all very dull & boring & considering there is a real mix of ages I think it needs livening up a bit. So come on Don Pepe management sort these issues out, they are not major issues, but I am sure I would not be the first to notice them.

The staff are very friendly and very helpful. The garden and pool area are very clean and the staff more than heplfulwith sunbeds and parasols. The staff serving drinks were not so easy to contact at times and cold flannels offered around midday would be nice.

Good location, spacious rooms, got free champagne as compliment, room was made several times a day

No own beach, the one closest to the hotel belongs to cafe Cappuccino-a nice one, but 15 eur per sunbed and not many beds in general. Hotel is also quite shabby and needs renovation No oysters in champagne & oyster bar located in the hotel

The hotel Beach belage has a limmited no. Of matts, if you didn't reserve before noon you might not find a place, also the sea front underwater area of the beach is not clean from rocks and corals, it makes the idea of having a dip at the sea quite challenging.
