Torre Vella Fontenille Menorca, hotel in Son Bou

Located in Son Bou, 1.7 miles from Cala de llucalari Beach, Torre Vella Fontenille Menorca provides accommodations with a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a shared...

This finca is so well done—delicious bedding, quiet without being boring, attentive staff that show up only when you need them. Breakfast is fantastic. An example of their attention to detail: I said I wanted hard boiled eggs every day and there they were, every single day. This seems like a simple thing, but someone took the time to write it down so that no matter who was working that day, they knew what I liked for breakfast.

The beach was the best thing about Son Bou.

The beach was the best thing about Son Bou. It was a glorious long stretch of sand with crystal clear warm waters. It might have been a bit choppy for small children some days but there were 4 lifeguards sited along the main strip (until 5pm). We might have arrived a bit early in the season (18th to 15th May) but there were quite a few empty shops and no tourist office or signs up telling us what to do in the area or around Menorca. The beach restaurants were lovely but more expensive than the ones in the town. None of it was cheap though. The set menus were better value. Vegan choices were a bit limited but I'm used to that. We ended up having veg paella 3 days, spaghetti one day and pizza another. If I were to go to Menorca again I would probably hire a car - the roads are simple and safe and it's possible to explore the whole island in a week. There were 5 of us so we had to have 2 taxis each time we wanted one. We used the buses to go to Ciutadella and Mahon; they were very reasonable and comfortable, more like coaches than buses.

    This is my second review.

This is my second review. We reported a boiler or hot water tank problem at 1.30 am. It woke us and the noise and overheating plug worried us. In the morning we had to insist to be offered another apartment by central reservations. I asked whether they had had similar problems previously. I was told not. I have just seen six other guests had reported "boiler" problems by searching the reviews. I wonder what I might find by searching "tank". Then one could try translations into various languages. I do not appreciate being lied to!

Son bou is a fantastic place to stay.

Son bou is a fantastic place to stay. It has something for everyone. There is good restaurants of various food choices. The beach is easy to get to and it’s beautiful. We love the Kitcat Bar as they have entertainment a few evenings a week. They do a Quiz and in high season karaoke. All sports are played on the various TVs. It’s run by a wonderful friendly family and they make you feel very welcome. The food and drink is excellent too.

Food selection both for breakfast and dinner were great!

Food selection both for breakfast and dinner were great! Hotel has a minibus that takes guests to the beach every half an hour (with a break during the lunch). This is great as the hotel is up the hill, the walk is not too long but can be challenging for some people. Nearby beach is long and sandy, with options to rent umbrellas and sunbeds. It can be busy at times. Waves are often high, so swimming can be challenging. There are a couple of restaurants near the beach, with reasonably priced decent food, in case you wish to dine out, but the hotel restaurant is much better. There is a bus stop near the beach where you can get the bus to go to towns across the island, some direct and some with change. Buses don't go often, and there are very few of them on Sundays, so plan things ahead if you wish to venture out. Daily boat trips on the island are often sold out, as there are only a couple of options available on the entire island, so it is recommended to book trips before arriving on the island, as the prices are fixed. Renting a car can also be challenging, and it is recommended to check options in advance.

The beach was very long and it was easy to find space away...

The beach was very long and it was easy to find space away from other people if you wanted to. It was end of season though so probably very packed in peak season. We didn’t like the restaurants in the town - we tried three different ones during our stay and the food was decidedly average and overpriced. It’s unlikely that we would return to Son Bou apart from going to the beach possibly.

Son Bou is a beautiful area with a great beach.

Son Bou is a beautiful area with a great beach. It’s a very clean area and has beautiful weather, even at the start of October we had clear blue skies and 26°c, perfect for sunbathing and swimming in the pool. I recommend staying in Valentin hotel.

I was extremely glad that some one called me back when I arrived at the Son Bou Gardens reception office. The reception office was closed at the time. I do not remember the ladies name, but she was very nice and came quickly. She provided me with the keys and gave me a tour of the apartment. I arrived in the off season, so I expected minor problems. I would recommend Son Bou Gardens to other visitors. My advice for over seas visitors, call or send an email before you get there to confirm your reservation to make your arrival more smooth.

We really liked to stay here for a week. The hotel is located very near the beach and has amazing views from higher floors. Although the hotel is not new it was very clean, room service cleaned the room every day which is nice. There were also great activities at the pool such paddleboard yoga/pillates, pool biking, fitness. We had half-board, there were plenty of choices for everyone. Really nice hotel and great place to be. Son Bou is beautiful village to visit.

Thr Villa was beautiful, very spacious, clean and had good amenities. Pool was clean, outside area was clean too. The place was also given a mid week clean which was great. Had enough crockery and pots and pans for a self catering holiday. We were also left a welcome pack with tea coffee, wine bottle and breakfast items. That was very thoughtful. Communication before arrival was very efficient and informative. Highly recommend.

The hotel is located close to the beach in a nice village and has several swimming pools. The personnel are super friendly and nice, and very appreciative. The breakfast very good and with lot of variety. Also provide a bus to go to the beach and avoid having to walk uphill. Overall highly recommended place. Also some of the restaurants in the village are highly recommended.

Gorgeous villa in the Menorcan countryside in Son Bou! The villa had everything you could need, including a beautiful clean pool! We were a group of 12 and we never felt like we didn't have enough space. Pere was great to deal with - friendly and very accommodating!! Nowhere was to far to travel to from the villa, we really can't complain. We will be back for sure!!

Great location above Son Bou but you do need a car unless you are super fit! Quiet gated community of 14 villas managed by menorca villas. Villas are very spacious, well furnished, very comfortable beds and spotlessly clean. Pool towels very useful addition as well as tea towels! Lovely pool and plenty of space. We had a really lovely time!

This place is amazing. The grounds are beautiful. Amazing views. The breakfast is fantastic. The rooms attractive, comfortable and clean. Such great amenities. The owners are so kind and friendly. The dinner is hands down the best I had in Menorca. I can't recommend this place enough. Stay here!

Cap Menorca is an impressive place and location. It is next to the sea and the views from the cliffs was something I loved. The suite with a beautiful and Mediterranean design has a private garden and pool, and is in the middle of nature.... top top. We will repeat!
