The cottage is situated above Monessie Gorge and the West Highland Rail Line. Several trains pass each day between Glasgow and Mallaig which has been voted one of the best rail journeys world wide. The Jacobite Steam Train of Harry Potter fame travels between Fort William and Mallaig April to October crossing the iconic Glennfinnan viaduct with its views of Loch Shiel and theJacobite Monument. Roy Bridge is known for the Parallel Roads of Glen Roy and the last inter clan Battle of Mulroy. Nearby Spean Bridge has the Commando Memorial with its spectacular views of the surrounding hills. It has a golf course, shinty field several restaurants, hotel, shop and woollen mill. Fort William is 14 miles away with Ben Nevis, theCaledonian Canal and Neptunes Staircase, boat trips. It has a choice of supermarkets restaurants and pubs. There are many beautiful walks and cycle routes throughout the area.
