Crake Trees Manor is an environmentally sensitive family farm. High up in the Yorkshire Dales National Park we have tremendous views in every direction. Each room looks out over our farm to the Eden Valley, the Pennines and Howgill fells. Even as far as the northern Scottish hills. The farmhouse has direct access to many footpaths and bike trails of the Eden Valley and Westmorland Dales. This area is regarded as cyclists heaven. We have two Bed and Breakfast rooms . Delux room with balcony is called Peasland. Double room is called Demesne Peasland is on the first floor with private access from an outside stairway. A king size bed, sitting area with sofa large bathroom with bath tea and coffee facilities and a lovely balcony to catch the evening sunshine . Demesne is on the ground floor and has a private entrance from the courtyard. A double bed with sofa team and coffee facilities and a walk in wet room /shower/toilet with underfloor heating. Demesne room is a dog welcome room. Sit outside in the sunny courtyard to watch the sun setting in the western sky.
For many years my job and life has revolved around looking after visitors, as well as working with my husband on our farm. Our farm is run to the principles of Regenerative Agriculture, we own our farm and intend to leave it in better shape than when we started farming. The farm is a haven for wildlife, many species of grasses and wildflowers. guests will see cattle and sheep grazing, as well as free range pigs and ponies. So the years go by, we now have grandchildren. So as well as bed and breakfast, we have 3 Self catering Cottages, Shepherd’s Huts, Glamping and almost wild Camping Mike runs the farming side and creates bespoke green oak furnishings to commission. We work hard to ensure our guests relax. But we also spend time testing out and researching all the delightful pubs and restaurants locally. Walking the walks and footpaths, Cycling the quiet lanes so that we can keep our guests up to date with all that's so special about this corner of Cumbria , and beyond. We are happy here, I hope you will be too.
These are a few of our favourite places to explore all within half an hour or so from Crake Trees. Lowther Castle and Garden’s: wander round the hundreds of acres of romantic gardens and pleasure grounds that have been abandoned for 60 years, now gradually coming back to life, our families favourite meeting up place with a modern café. Aira Force, on our favourite Lake Ullswater: Typical lakeland waterfall on the shores of the lake with great walks and a new pier to join the Lake steamer. Brougham Castle, a very quite and reflective place. A favourite castle of lady Anne Clifford ( our foremost feminist), many steps to climb and dark passages to explore Dalemain House, home of the world famous marmalade festival. Bird of Prey Centre Lowther, Well run enthusiastic breeding and demonstration centre with very retro and cosy tea room. Long Meg, The second largest stone circle in Britain, marvel at its wonder then back down to The Watermill at Little Salkeld for tea (40 minutes). Shap Abbey, another lonesome abbey, relic of prosperous times past , on the coast to coast route, finish off with a simple snack at The Abbey Café in Shap ( 15 minutes).
