Shops, pubs and takeaways galore within a couple of minutes walk. The road is not used by through traffic and so it very quiet and safe. There is a lovely woodland cemetery (not so ironically, that is also the name of it) where you can walk and relax in nature. I have seen wood-peckers and a sparrow hawk here. Fillets takeaway fish and chip shop on Lewes Road is the best in town, I think. They change the oil regularly and it is spotlessly clean. Also, check out handmade chocolateer, Rainbow Organics at The Open Market by the Level. My favourite gem-of-a-bistro, Semolina is on Baker Street just around the corner and just got a Good Food Guide award. It is a short distance to the top of Elm Grove or Bear Road where you are can get onto the South Downs Way where you can cycle or walk to Lewes in a morning and bus or cycle back along the road cycle paths within 3/4 hour. Why not take a tour of Brighton Pavilion on the way home up the newly re-landscaped Valley Gardens. The Brighton i360 ascending observation deck is a great way to see the town and back towards The Downs from the sea front. I can also recommend a day out in beautiful Lewes where you can visit the historic Harveys Brewery (working), Anne of Cleaves House and Lewes Castle. Alternatively, drop down through Woodingdean to the coastal village or Rottingdean. The scenic Under Cliff Walk then goes back along the coast to Brighton where you could even take the Volks Electric Railway (first in the world), from the Marina to Brighton Pier.
