Comfortable bedroom, it can be very noisy if you want an early night as it's just over a pub. We didn't get too bothered by that as we went to bed late.
They had gluten free toast and adapted the breakfast to suit me.

The only positive thing you can say about Castle Douglas is that it is a convenient place from which you can travel and explore Dumfries and Galloway.
I spent one day watching the red kites feeding at Bellymack Hill Farm, and the day I left I took the opportunity to travel to the Mull of Galloway because I was relatively close to it.
Don't plan to stay in Castle Douglas in order to explore the town itself, there is nothing to see.

A lovely little town with plenty of shops which appealed to the wife. The natives were friendly and we enjoyed the banter. For the fellows don't miss the brewery at the bottom of town, Great tap, some great beers. Came home within lots of meat from each of the butchers shops.

Castle Douglas is a favourite place where we spend some time on any trip which demands a stop off to take advantage of the independent retail stores. We know staff are friendly and cheerful, don't hassle customers and always give a warm welcome.
After some shopping there is quite a number of places to stop for coffee and cake or even a more substantial meal.

Castle Douglas is a very nice little town, with many nice old shops. A great place for a day away.
The town is very clean and the people are friendly
It is in the right location for travelling around SW Scotland and seeing what is there
The location in the farmland was beautiful. Walks in the green fields with many sheep and cows. The accommodation was comfortable, good bed, quiet, sunny sitting room looking out over the hills. Walks on the coast are easily accessible and there are a number of good restaurants in Castle Douglas. We appreciated the hospitality of Irene, who was taking care of the guests.
- the staff were fantastic and obviously care about the community and visitors. locals in the pubs below were great people to talk to as well. breakfast was accommodating and delicious. we all really enjoyed our time in Castle Douglas. Rooms aren’t exactly modern, but I don’t think that should be a problem for anyone, accommodations are more than adequate.
Was like staying at a friend's house which I suppose it was in some ways. The breakfast was well presented and could be customised to your requirements. The room was spacious for a B&B with a large en-suite shower. The location is very picturesque beside the River Dee ideal for bird spotting and only a few miles from Castle Douglas. Recommended.
Stunning location on the edge of Galloway Forest Park, with incredible wildlife to be seen just in the garden (countless birds, rabbits, even a fox!). Great base for exploring the surrounding hills, coastline and towns. Rachael and Matt were super friendly and gave us a little tour of the area around the house when we arrived. Would love to go back!
As soon as we arrived we were given a warm welcome at reception. The room was immaculate with stunning views of the Loch. Bed was comfortable. Ate in the restaurant both nights and the food and hospitality were first class. This hotel should be very proud of its staff as they give 100% at all times.
The Stables was an excellent location, being near a town ( Castle Douglas) to shop for supplies, but with easy access to the coast and Galloway Forest. The building had been beautifully renovated and the farm setting was very peaceful, but with play areas available for families.
We had a wonderful welcome from Gillian and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in her spacious, comfortable, all-amenities flat. Location was also perfect for everything the town had to offer, especially Gillian's InHouse cafe and chocolate factory downstairs.
Friendly, helpful owner. Well maintained, nice room and en-suite. Breakfast room was lovely, excellent breakfast. Although I know the area quite well, this was my first stay in Castle Douglas which I really enjoyed.
Made to feel inferior by waitress who said our room option meant we could not choose from residents breakfast menu despite my argument that, like everyone around us in the restaurant, we are still hotel residents!!
Exceptionally clean and warm accommodation, with very welcoming hosts. lovely wee finishing touches in the room and a great breakfast. we will definitely book again next time in Castle Douglas.
The Coop is very well located within Castle Douglas close to local amenities and restaurants. It is cosy, stylish and clean. Great communication from the owner. We had a really lovely stay.
Beautifully presented cottage ,spotlessly clean, in a quiet setting. Near to castle douglas. A great base for exploring the area. A fab welcoming gift awaited us which was a lovely touch.
Altho the location was quite remote it was only a 15 min drive to Castle Douglas town & where the lodge is situated looking out into the field was just fantastic and felt very private
We liked the location of the hotel, staff were very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. The food was delicious and fresh. There was a nice atmosphere in the hotel.
