Sagiada is a fisherman’s village of about 600, in the northwesternmost tip of Greece, right before the borders with Albania. Tourist development has not reached this coastal location yet, and so, it retains a tranquil and original charm that is difficult to find! There is one organized beach, (Keramidi), at a distance of about 3 km from the village itself, and a number of beaches that are undeveloped, including the beautiful beach of Strovili. At the little port of Skaloma, there are three fish taverns, that sell local fresh fish at reasonable prices, and a couple of cafes, that do double duty as bars in the evenings. There is also a supermarket, a pharmacy, and other small eateries. Apart from swimming and fishing, the area boasts The Kalama river Delta, with unique opportunities to explore rich fauna and flora, antiquities, abandoned villages and byzantine churches. The borders with Albania are 6 klms away, and you can easily cross over for a day trip to the coastal city of Saranda. The port city of Igoumenitsa is 17 klm away, with yet more beaches to explore, and of course the port, which gets you to Corfu or Paxoi. There are organized canoe trips to the Kalama Delta.
