Warm, welcoming house with a private pool and a magnificent open view of the Istrian hills. The property contains two stone houses; the main house sleeps 4 (shared bathroom) and the small one sleeps 2 (own bathroom). There is a sitting area on the terrace and plenty of lounge chairs around the 50m2 pool. The house is close to the main square of a cosy little town of Vižinada, one of the main winemaking areas in Istria. Biking and hiking trails start at your doorstep and beaches are only 15 min away. In 2020, Rijeka (1 hr drive) is the European Capital of Culture, featuring a variety of performances, exhibitions and concerts.

The House Lunja project started in 2018, when I took three months off from work and came to Istria to relax, slow down and take it easy. It worked really well, and while relaxing, I also did quite some driving, hiking and biking around the peninsula. It was April, so many places were just quiet.. and beautiful. May was great too, the sun and the sea got warm enough to swim and to lay down on the beach for hours, taking it easy, so I did that too. It was the perfect time to be here, so in June I decided that I wanted to come back. And now, I keep coming back - to this special place that is my Istrian home, and that I am glad to share with you. I called the house 'Lunja' as in Croatian it means something like 'She-wanderer’. Let it be an invitation to all of you wanderers to keep wandering... in any way.

Vižinada is located on one of the most attractive hiking and biking trails in Istria - the Parenzana trail. You can start a hike from your house or rent a bike and go for a ride - beside Parenzana, there are other paths leading to the coast or to the neighbouring towns of Motovun or Groznjan. A couple of steps away from the house, close to the main square, you will find one of the most important (12th century) fresco's in Istria - they are in the small church of St. Barnabas. As a winemaking region, Vižinada and its surroundings offer various locations for wine (and prosciutto, cheese, olives..) tasting. There are also some nice restaurants in rural setting offering local food. For basic groceries, there are two small supermarkets in town and for bigger shopping, Poreč or Novigrad are just 15 min away. It is recommended to have a car during your stay in Vižinada. From your house, you can reach many historic or cultural destinations of Istria in 15-30 minutes. Or visit children's parks and beaches, go for sports or adventure activities.
