The town of Hvar is located in a bay at the southwestern end of the island of the same name, which is also the sunniest island in the Adriatic. Outside the town center is the mansion of the poet Hannibal Lucic from the 16th c. The city is also famous by its arsenal, one of the best preserved in the Mediterranean. It was built in the mid 16th century. In this way Arsenal was more than a naval facility and became a significant architectural and urban landmark of Hvar.What attracts tourists to Hvar is the fact that the Europe's oldest public theater is located in the town of Hvar.
