The rapidly expanding Jordanian capital, Amman is an economic powerhouse spread over various hills. Atop one sits the Citadel, containing remains of the Roman Temple of Hercules, a Byzantine church and an 8th-century mosque and palace.
Also here is the Jordan Archaeological Museum, and at the foot of the hill is a Roman theatre, part built in the rock. Modern housing blocks surround it, but the most avant-garde architecture is in the developing Al Abdali business district.
The tallest Amman structures will be the Jordan Gate Towers and will house one of the city’s high-rise hotels. International brands of restaurants and bar can be found alongside more traditional cuisine in Amman, and many eateries are in the large Mecca Mall and Grand City Mall, which also has a cinema.
Nearby is the desert-like vegetation of Al Hussein National Park, and the Royal Automobile Museum which features cars of King Hussein, ruler for over 40 years and after whom are named city sights such as the King Hussein Business Park and mosque. The King Abdullah I Mosque has a beautiful blue dome, while Abu Darweesh Mosque at Amman’s highest point is a striking black-and-white structure.
Booking.com’s Amman accommodation includes 5-star hotels, apartments in the embassy district, and cheap hostels, all within easy reach of Queen Alia Airport.

A bustling capital with some interesting roads. Drivers like to honk their horn most of the time! I guess because of the congested traffic state.
Old downtown is very nice and offer a great reflection of the Jordanian culture and personality.

Lack of recognizable food chains posed challenging food-searches but overall situation can be manageable. Traffic can be considered an issue and driving in Amman might be tricky (stick to uber / careem apps).

Amman is a great place to stay for a few days, even for someone like me who doesn't particularly enjoy city stays. Super easy to get around by walking, or by taxi (you can use the careem app or Uber), and many local buses go within Amman as well as buses to take you to other cities in the country. Options for local food are great for budget travelers (you can spend as little as 1 JD to get a good sandwich). I loved exploring the different neighborhoods around as well as the downtown area. Make sure to check out Hashem for its famous falafel and hummus. If you like Turkish bath houses, the Al-Pacha one was amazing and I would recommend it! The locals in the city are super friendly and helpful and not as pushy to sell you things or trying to take advantage of you which is also amazing.
The location of hotel is on main street which could be positive or negative for someone. The location was extremely convenient for me as I wanted to catch the bus for King Hussain Bridge in morning and Jet bus Abdali station is 2min walk. The suite was large with king size bed. The 5 stars 🌟 I will give to the old man who checked me in in evening and made request for breakfast box for me to be ready morning 630am as I was going to catch bus 715am. Their breakfast starts at 8am usually, real Jordanian hospitality.
Everything!!! The hotel and the people who run it made me feel like this was my home away from home! The room was so so cozy. The staff was out of this world…I happened to be the only one for breakfast and they made the biggest, most delicious spread I’ve seen to date! I decided to rent a vehicle to tour around Jordan and was given hints and tips about what to/what not to do as well as lovely dinner suggestions! The property is conveniently located where I could walk everywhere to see the sites in Amman.
The hotel is having nice ambience, modern, clean and comfort. The furniture is elegant, comfort bed, full kitchen, good list of TV channel, high speed wifi, free laundry room at 3rd floor, gym, nice small pool and terace, good spread of breakfast, quiet location yet close to shops and restaurants. The staff from front desk, concierge and cleaning are all very kind and know how to serve guests. I will definitely come back to this hotel whenever I visit Amman
We stayed at the Amman Pasha hotel for three nights, one night in the beginning of our trip and two nights at the end of our trip. Here is the list of pros and cons on staying at this hotel.
Pros
1. The staff is super helpful. Louie help me arrange transportation for my whole trip.
2. Location. It was walking distance from almost everything we wanted to see.
3. Pricing. This was a budget hotel, so the cost for the location was a value.
We had a balcony with a nice view of one of the landmarks of Amman the King Abdullah I mosque. The hotel is close to Abdali Boulevard and Abdali mall two posh options for going out in the capital of Jordan
The staff was kind and as we had to live the next day at 02 pm they allowed us to do a late check out
The hotel has a swimming pool and a Spa center I think the Spa you have to pay extra but I am not sure
The breakfast was good
Excellent Stay at MAMAYA Hotel in Downtown Amman, Jordan
I had an exceptional experience at MAMAYA Hotel in downtown Amman. The hostel was clean, safe, and conveniently located near transportation options and downtown. The owners were friendly their kids are lovely. provided valuable recommendations for exploring the city. I highly recommend MAMAYA Hostel for its cleanliness, convenient location, and welcoming atmosphere."
This is the third time at Zaman Ya Zaman and every time I go I see how the owner keep upgrading this hotel and take care of it so I will continue book with them and I think it’s the best motel for the price and the location in downtown Amman very comfortable bed, delicious breakfast and so big, the location(center of downtown Amman ), stuff were very helpful, I love the upgraded room and the nice view to amphitheater.
Very nice location in front of the roman theater and close to downtown Amman. We had a view on the theater from our balcony and the staff was really nice. It was our last day in Jordan and we didn’t have enough JOD to pay the food we ordered in the room before leaving to the airport, but Kazah was really nice and took what we had left! We ordered the taxi from the hotel and the ride was perfect!
Was our first night arriving in Jodan. We took the rental car from the airport for a 25min ride through Amman to get to Canary Hotel. People are welcoming and friendly. Room was good and clean, the bathroom was new with a great shower. Breakfast was delicious. If you come by car there are plenty parking lots in the area around the hotel. Was a great experience for our first night in Jordan.
Very nice boutique hotel that I would recommend to anyone staying in Amman. For the price you get a very modern, very clean and comfortable room. The lobby is lovely and the staff is welcoming. We stayed at the hotel at the end of our 11-day vacation trip in Jordan and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of this property that surpassed standards of some big hotels we stayed in 👌
The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Their access to drivers in particular were an asset, and wherever you needed to go in the small country of Jordan you could've realistically gone to. The location in Weibdeh is alright - you need to walk up a lot of hills to get to the neighborhood's centre - but it's super accessible to downtown Amman.
I recently stayed at this hotel in Amman, Jordan and had a pleasant experience. Despite the small room size, it was very comfortable and gave me a cozy feeling of being at home. The hotel is conveniently located in the central area, making it easy to access everything nearby. The staff were helpful and friendly throughout my stay.
Value for money. Parking in front of the hotel. 10 min drive from rainbow street. Restaurant with bar. Room size and cleanliness is ok. Do not expect much more for this money. If you are planning a one night stay in Amman, it is good.
A Jordanian breakfast will be served in your room in a big plate. Staffs are very helpful.
We had a beautiful view from our balcony😍 The location of the hotel is very nearby most of the famous places in Amman. The whole team here are one of the kindest people we have met in Jordan. Everyone was asking us if we needed something and they made it feel like home for us especially Rand, Issah and shafeeq
This was my first stay at the New Merryland hotel as I arrived from Canada to Jordan. The hotel was located in the heart of Amman and the staff were exceptionally helpful especially Ahmed. He took care of my booking and helped me when I arrived and made sure my stay was great.
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Amman. Easy access to downtown and local attractions. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Booked our private car to the Jordan/Israel border through the hotel - fab price and amazing service for not much more than the shared bus option.
Opal Hotel Amman was our last day stay in our wonderful Jordan trip which also turned out to be a great stay,Friendly staff and the attention to detail by the staff made it a lovely stay.Special kudos to Mr.Baker who helped us through the check in process.
I liked the location of the hotel, and the staff were so kind and helpful، they recommended the best places and activities to do in amman, the rooms are clean and neat, im coming back for sure when i come back to Jordan, totally recommended!
Special thanks to Mr Raouf
