Wonderful location overlooking the island of Miyajima . Confusing on booking. Com as it says it’s Miyajima but actually is Miyajimaguchi . Don’t stay on gif island, it’s too touristy. Stay here … watching oyster harvesting early in the morning is beautiful . Staff lovely but the restaurant called European is always shut unless you prebook. We did and had a lovely oyster risotto but we were the only ones there . Catch the shuttle to town and eat there …. Walk back as it’s a quick 10 minutes and very safe . We had two excellent meals there . There was no dessert in the italian cafe and they wouldn’t get one from the upper floor cafe !! A little inflexible but always polite . Do have the onsen and prebook the private one for a night … both spectacular. We’d stay again as it’s so easy to visit the island . Climb to the top and gondola down for a great view .

We only stayed one night, but I wish we stayed 2-3. I left feeling like I only scratched the surface. Beautiful and peaceful place to unwind, especially after visiting the Peace Park Museum in Hiroshima.

It is a magic island where I would spend at least a couple of full days by sleeping in an authentic hotel with futon beds. If you can, i recommend to do the hiking of the main mountain (not difficult at all)

If you are an elderly Japanese teetotaller who likes simple food, an onsen and beautiful views this is the place for you! If however, you also like your hotel to be multi generational, with a nice bar, good food and a welcoming atmosphere, this is definitely not the hotel for you.

We stayed 2 nights but wish we could have stayed longer.

We stayed 2 nights but wish we could have stayed longer. We took one whole day climbing the mountain, which was great but time consuming, so we ended up not seeing everything on our list. Keep in mind that the restaurants and bars close by 7 or 8 pm because all of the tourists leave the island around 5:30 pm. You really get to enjoy the beautiful island in peace and quiet in the morning and evening before the boats of tourists arrive. It was our favorite place we visited in Japan!

Miyajima Villa was the perfect escape!

Miyajima Villa was the perfect escape! Friendly, professional staff assisted us to get settled, offering umbrellas for the rain, assistance on getting around the Island, etc. The hotel even offers Onsen clothing and many other amenities for their guests! The hotel is conveniently located just steps from the ferry dock and the main streets to see the Tori Gate or the Itsukushima Shrine, the aquarium, to get to the Ropeway, trinket stores, ice cream stations, and so on. Our ocean room view had 2 oversized very comfy twin beds, a small couch, & desk. Loved the Toto Washlet in the toilet room! The bathtub while small was perfect for soaking after 5 hours of hiking. Lots of soft water and water pressure. The onsen (public bath) was just pure Heaven! :-) Sitting in the enclosed area in back of the hotel is just more of the escape and so worthwhile! :-) Thankfully there was food available in the hotel (bakery, dinner, breakfast) because ALL food service in town STOPS AT 4:30pm! At least, it did while we were there. Our breakfast with Miyajima Villa was wonderful and very filling whether Japanese or American food. High caution is advised if you plan to hike from the Ropeway, as we did. Trails are not well marked on all trails. However, the trail to the top of Mt Misen is well worthwhile! Hopefully, you are as fortunate as we were to see the Tori Gate at high & low tides as well as catching it at sunset, which brought out MANY PEOPLE. :-) :-) What a perfectly lovely island to spend some adventure time!

    Beautiful island.

Beautiful island. Go early in the morning especialy if you want to climb the mountain. It's a pretty hard track, bu it's beautiful. In the afthernoon it's to hot. Lot of tourist in the afternoon and it's hard to have some dinner. Stay there during the sunset: the shrine is beautiful!

The property is located in a lovely spot on Miyajima Island. Walkable to the busy waterfront area. It’s definitely old school but the room was clean. We stayed at Hotel Makoto for the ryokan experience. We were really excited when we returned after an evening out to find our beds prepared for us. I have to say, sleeping on the floor was uncomfortable but I was expecting that. There were more pads in the closet. The staff provided maps and info about the island. Very friendly and helpful.

I did many hotels across Japan, Miyajima Seaside hotel, is the probably the best one I’ve been to for many reasons : 1) the staff is very kind and helpful : even by Japanese standards which are high, they were exceptional, they have the best answers for every request 2) the diner at the hotel is one of the best we tried in Japan 3) the view is gorgeous, the room is very cute 4) going to the hotel’s onsen at the end of the day was the cherry on the top 5) the hotel is baby-friendly

The property is right in between the ferry port and the town / O’Torii. The staff was super friendly, the rooms spacious and fully equipped, they even had kimonos for us! On top of everything, the hotel has it’s own private onsen!!! We relaxed after a day of walking around and the next day, upon leaving, the staff gifted us a couple of umbrellas for it was pouring and we didn’t have any. Our mystical stay at Miyajima couldn’t have been such without Sakuraya :)

This hotel and its staff are simply great. The hotel is an easy and short walk from the ferry terminal. The traditional futon beds were incredibly comfortable and we enjoyed a great night's sleep on them. Miyajima is very quiet after the day visitors leave, which meant that we had a very quiet night. The staff were incredibly helpful, assisting us with a lost item left behind at a previous hotel. The breakfast is well worth the money and hit the spot.

The location is very quiet, even during the day, and you can feel nicely secluded in the woods above the streets. The open-air onsen (hot tub) was small but hot and plenty big for a couple (unless you’re very tall) - during the chilly night it was absolutely delightful. Check-in was easy and the host really playful and sweet. We paid for the Japanese breakfast and it was fabulous, served at the host’s nearby hotel.

A nice traditional ryokan with the option for western type beds. Rooms were very big. Although the rooms were a bit dated, everything was clean. The onsen was great. Food was really good. Service was also great. Location is very good and close to the Itsukushima Shrine. I really recommend staying at the Miyajima Island. After the last ferry you have the island almost completely to yourself.

The hotel is located just 5 minutes walk from the ferry port and about 10 minutes walk from the temple and shrine. The dinner and breakfast were a great added experience, even more considering that there's not much to do around the island and everything closes quite early. The onsen is open until midnight and was great, extremely clean.
