Place was extremely clean and aesthetically pleasing. The staff were fantastic and very friendly. The host even offer to drop me off in town a couple times to get groceries. Definitely recommend. Beds are comfy and aircon is freezing! It’s a new place by the looks of it so all The facilities are new.

We loved the pool and the garden! Perfect for relaxing after exploring the ancient city in the heat. The owner and his son who managed the hotel were incredibly friendly and kind. They went out of their way to ensure that I had a fantastic breakfast that catered to my dietary needs (gluten free). Tishan is situated about 15 min away (by car) from the ancient ruins and the town of Polonnaruwa itself.

We most liked that the owner is so passionate about his resort. He loved to show us around in his beautifull garden and everything in the resort is thought of and well functioning. The sister of the owner is an excellent cook and she makes a great Sri Lankan breakfast. Each day a bit different but always delicious and plentifull. Same holds for the optional dinner. Owner also has good deals and friendly and knowledgeable friends for excursions to the temples and Sigiriya and safari. We left to see other places but actually we didn't want to leave this little paradise.

Room was very comfortable with rice field view & private balcony, great Value for money, all prices are very reasonable, Very special thing is they can arrange whatever we need to do in Sri Lanka, Highly Recommend for everyone.

    Ruins is one of the best experiences I have ever had. The staff is very nice. The food, the rooms are amazing. I invite all local and foreign people to come here and have fun. Located outside the city, it is a quiet and pleasant place to stay. In all respects, Ruins is a beautiful hotel located in Polonnaruwa. I am thankful to all the employees including the management for helping to make my holiday beautiful.

    The site seeing of historical places were the best.

    The site seeing of historical places were the best. Most of the time we ate at the hotel and visited some locals and shared a meal with them. We hired a vehicle during the tour, This gave us the flexibility to get around. Net time I'll try to get there in the cooler months, mid December.

    Lot of ancient locations and relics.

    Lot of ancient locations and relics. Can gain much information about historical Polonnaruwa era of Sri Lanka. Spread is in close vicinity and can cover all areas even without a travel guide. My favourite places were Parakrama Samudraya, museum, King Parakramabahu's castle and office, Gal Viharaya, Thiwanka Pilima geya, Vatadage, Hetadage and Sathmahal Prasadaya. There are places to eat in Polonnaruwa new town (Very close by). We dined at NS Tomatoes where the service was good.

    It's worth making the effort to see the far northern and far...

    It's worth making the effort to see the far northern and far southern area too.... and don't forget to check out the back roads in the quadrangle group. The site is full of tourists, but almost nobody at the above mentioned places.

    Polonnaruwa has impressive archeological and historic areas...

    Polonnaruwa has impressive archeological and historic areas which are in good conditions despite of the years. The Minneriya National Park, the Dambulla cave temple and the Sigiriya Rock are also near and it makes Polonnaruwa a perfect base to visit all of them. We would strongly recommend to others.

    We stayed about 14km outside polonnaruwa on lake giritale.

    We stayed about 14km outside polonnaruwa on lake giritale. We got a tuk tuk into town (1500 rupees) and hired bikes for the day (1000 rupees each). We found a cycle route online and followed that, which took us to all the main sites. It was hot but we had a great time. Stop for a drink at the EKO hotel on the lake- a great spot!

    The owners were definitely the best part about this property. They are so sweet and caring, like a mother and father away from home. The food is also very good!     This is the first time we are visiting Srilanka and this was the first hotel we booked for accomodation in this trip.To our surprise the hotel was really fantastic with swimming pool,dining area,situated in the accessible location and surrounding.We were given excellent hospitality by the hotel staffs.They were friendly and helped us by arranging tuk tuk.They provided us tasty breakfast and I highly recommend this hotel 👍👍👍

    The hotel has an excellent location and staff, an amazing rice field in front of our room, and the hotel look awesome everything is nature friendly. Just 10min away from the ancient city. The Owner takes care of everything in the hotel and serves the food which is one of the best I’ve eaten in Sri Lanka, they prepared so yummy Srilankan rice and curry and the owner solve any problem, many thanks to him and his team

    Very nice family, it felt like belonging to the family. Very attentive and helpful. Instantly helped to organize our stay with bicycles, tea, dinner (which was the best we had in Sri Lanka so far! so tasty!). Also the breakfast was very nice! Rooms were ok, very clean.     it’s so peaceful and beautiful, there’s a swimming pool you can chill (beach towels are provided), restaurant - you should try a giant prawn from the lake! The host is great! Sigiriya & Pidurangala rocks are just 1 hour drive from the hotel. Polonnaruwa is just 10 min max.

    This is a very nice hotel in Polonnaruwa . The location is central and the service is excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful in arranging excursions for us.
