Staff were very accommodating. We wanted an Iron and they gave us one for the room. We had a welcome drink when we checked in. Breakfast was fitting to all with both Sri Lankan and English breakfast options available.
View from the room was superb! We could see the Kandy temple and the Perahara at distance. At night it was a sight to be seen!

Kandy is a busy city but has many interesting features making for a day or two stay. The highlight for us was the Botanical Garden as we prefer nature to city life. The historic part of the city and visiting the Buddhist temple was also very interesting. The city has an abundance of frenetic traffic and the fumes make it annoying to walk around too much, but for a day or two to take in the sites it’s tolerable.

Kandy is a culturally rich city in Sri Lanka's central highlands, renowned for the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, a key Buddhist pilgrimage site. It offers scenic beauty with Kandy Lake and the nearby Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. The city is known for the Esala Perahera festival, vibrant markets, and historic sites like the Royal Palace. While it has modern amenities and cooler weather, Kandy can experience traffic congestion and urban crowding. Overall, it’s a must visit for its blend of tradition, nature, and history.

We stayed for 1 night.
We stayed for 1 night. We liked the royal botanical gardens but I would skip everything else including the temple. I was horrified by the treatment of the elephants in our whole 3 weeks in Sri Lanka we only saw one other elephant chained up but in Kandy they were all over especially in the temple complex. It was horrible to see the keepers hitting them with sticks and the elephants in so much distress that they were just swaying back and forth! We were in Kandy at the time of the Kandy festival and I was so sad again to see these wonderful animals paraded around loud streets with loud bangs no wonder they run away sometimes and end up hurting people! I definitely wouldn’t recommend!

The Elsa Perahera was amazing to watch.
The Elsa Perahera was amazing to watch. The city was very busy but had a wonderful atmosphere.
The temple of the tooth and all the elephants were wonderful too. A hectic and relaxing stay.
Loads of delicious bakeries, coffee shops and sweet shops to tempt you in and had some great food.
Very compact centre with interesting shops. The market was a great experience too but everyone wants to show you their goods.

Kandy Hill staion very closely resembles the many Hill Stations in India. It is very Calm and Peaceful with a very pleasant weather. The Climate Changes very quickly. It is a Place where you can just come and relax and in the evening have a stroll around the Kandy Lake. People going to Srilanka should have a stay of atleast 1 Night in Kandy.
Definitely the best stay we had in Sri Lanka. An idyllic and beautiful place we’ve only seen in the movies so far. The hosts are super lovely and recommended us things to do and places to eat at that are authentic and charge local prices.
Definitely drive with the host’s go-to Tuk Tuk driver Gehan. He is super sweet and careful of your safety in Kandy plus you won’t find any cheaper Tuk Tuk anyway. All in all 10/10.
Brilliant value for money. Very well looked after by all staff. Although the hotel is located about 35mins from Kandy, it is set up in the hills with lovely views either side. Very good breakfast and dinner. Even treated to some live music on the second dinner! Room was upgraded which was much appreciated. Definitely the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka!
Best hotel in town. Not even kiding, it truly was spectacular. The location is perfect. You can use the pool, the top floor has a nice bar and beautiful view. The staff is truly professional and will treat You in the best way possible. If Your in Kandy, i can highly recommend this hotel!
Of all the locations in Kandy, this hotel is fantastic. A tiny walk from the entrance to the Temple of the Tooth makes it ideal for a tourist stay. Very affordable. Rooms are small. Kind Sri Lankan service as was experienced throughout the whole country.
