Marrakech, an ancient imperial city in western Morocco, is a major economic center and is home to mosques, palaces and gardens. The medina - the old historic district of Marrakech. The main square of the medina is Djemaa El-Fna. It is surrounded by endless labyrinths of souks (bazaars) and alleys covering the entire medina. Djemma El-Fna is a must because there is always something to see there day and night, whether snake charmers, acrobats, soothsayers or musicians and food stalls (some heavily overloading). At night, the square really comes to life as people navigate exotic flavors and entertaining sites. As the evening darkens, the unrest rages. Exotic music appears stronger and more hypnotic. Directly south of Djemaa El-Fna square is Rue Bab Agnaou. A five-minute walk will take you directly to the famous Bab Agnaou entrance to the Kasbah district of the Medina. The entrance to Bab Agnaou, through the ramparts, is by far the most impressive of all the rampart entrances to the Medina.
