Casa Montagnola is a spacious cabin-style house in the mountains where you feel stimulated by nature. These are 160 square meters in 2 constructions located in a space of 2000 meters with endemic trees of the region and wild nature. The rooms inspire quietness, they have large windows to appreciate the landscape towards the Picacho hill and the mountains: there is a large adobe bedroom that will keep you isolated, and there’s also a 75-square-meter loft where there’s a dining room, you can work at a secluded table or sleep on the double futon. The kitchen has a handmade touch with tiles by the painter Francisco Toledo. And Casa Montagnola has two large bathrooms made with materials from the region, both with hot water (solar heaters). The rhomboid wooden windows are the distinctive symbol of Casa Montagnola's country architecture. It’s a place to be outside the city, or having a residence to concentrate on creative activities, be surrounded by the landscapes of the Oaxaca and its harmless fauna, and breathe fresh air. The powerful internet antenna allows you to connect your electronic devices and communicate with the rest of the world.
You are welcome to Casa Montagnola, where you will breathe fresh air and find, nearby, food grown in the region, and quietness. This can be your activity center for the commitments you have in Oaxaca downtown, since it is a 35-minute drive away. It can also be your middle spot on the way to the beach. And the most important: visiting a quiet town dedicated to weaving handmade rugs is interesting enough to get out of the city stress. No matter how you plan your trip, this space will be a place that you will remember with pleasure. Personal Information: "I am dedicated to artistic disciplines and at least 3 times a year I spend long periods in Teotitlán del Valle Oaxaca with my partner. The rest of the time we offer this space in Teotitlán to those who wish to have a few quiet days in one of the Mexican communities with an original culture descending directly from the ancient Zapotecs." Yolanda.
Teotitlán del Valle (place of the gods, in Nahuatl) is famous thanks to the quality and beauty of its woolen textile products, such as rugs made on large wooden looms and decorated with natural dyes. It is a very kind community with very good taste in its crafts. By Walking from Casa Montagnola, you can reach the local market, and by car or other transports you can go to the City of Oaxaca, El Tule, Mitla, Hierve el Agua and other places of interest. There are several restaurants in the area —modest, and two with more sophisticated cuisine— and you can go to the handicraft market where handmade wool rugs are sold. You can visit the Community Cultural Center that briefly reports on the Zapotec culture and the customs of its inhabitants. Teotitlán del Valle has a very interesting center where you find the Church of the Precious Blood of Christ, which dates back to the 17th century, and in whose construction stones from the old pre-Hispanic shrines were used. Don’t forget that this town, inhabited by gentile and native people, was the origin of the Zapotec culture (or place of stones). It is also the safest and cleanest town in the region.
