The location was definitely the best. It was beach side and very convenient to get to the beach where we met up with our guides for our activities. When we arrived, we were told it’s a barefoot hotel. Understandably so, given how close you are from the beach, you end up bringing in a lot of wet sand.

I am so happy we booked our spur of the moment trip to Moal Boal! It couldn't have gone better and we will definitely be making return trips there. The local people are some of the most friendly we've encountered in our world travels, the food is amazing, and the entire atmosphere was laidback, hospitable, and inviting. I was stunned by the natural beaty above and below the waters and highly recommend spending time, not only in Moal Boal, but on Cebu island as a whole! Don't let "long travel by road" deter you. Although the travel between locations (ie airport and resorts) can be a bit tedious due to (comparatively) underdeveloped road infrastructure, it also adds to the charm and exotic atmosphere. Everyone is incredibly helpful and kind, making sure you are never lost and are more than comfortable at all times. What a great place <3

Foreign tourist destination.
Foreign tourist destination. The road leading to the beach has all the things one need to resupply and eat. There's a loud music playing even in the night. And there's a tourist extorsion booth (also called sudden environmental tax payment booth) located in this road. But sarcasm aside, it's a nice starting point for local attractions such as Kawasan falls, white beach and so on. Highly recommended.

It's definitely an area you'll want a motorbike for to make the most of your stay. Once you get out of town, the travel lightens up as you venture further south. We only had one full day to make the most of it and we were able to see two different waterfalls that were a little over 90 minutes away from Moalboal. We traveled here from Siargo Island, so the pace and hustle-culture of the locals was MUCH higher than we were used to. It's not a huge deal breaker, but hanging at White Beach turned into the same vendors coming by at least three times each within an hour span to ask us if we wanted the same thing they were pitching. Again, to be expected being in a more touristy area, but I give it a knock since for some that can be annoying. The main thing here was the waterfalls and snorkeling and those things were so worth it, so I'd say if you're a diver, down for snorkeling or up for some adventures with the waterfalls (i.e. jumps) than this place will give you all the great memories.

To get the best out of Moalboal you have to adjust to tropics-time and get up early; fantastic experiences you’ll remember forever, but a NORMAL day starts at 5am, an early one at 3am. Then an early supper while you watch the astonishing sunset from the hotel restaurant (the best in the town) at 5:30, and in bed for 9 or 10.

MoalBoal is a good mix of beach, swimming/diving, bars and laid back Philippino culture. You can eat Philippino, Greek, US, UK, and a variety of food. This is not a 5-star location for facilities, but it is outstanding value and welcoming for divers, and swimmers and has a relaxed vibe. There is a good mix of foreigners/visitors and Cebu locals... good for people-watching. I genuinely like this resort because I am not put off by the amenities. If you are looking for a 5-star experience... stay in a 5-star resort, not here. If you are looking for adventure from canyoneering (nearby) to diving or just swimming among shoals of fish and seeing turtles... then MoalBoal is for you.

There's a bit of everything here for most people, depending on what you're looking for. The foreigner area is a bit away (3 km) from the main highway. There are lots of restaurants and bars, dive shops and hostels there.
There are plenty of daytime activities, but you may need to sign up for a group van the day before. I did and recommend the big canyoneering trip where you jump off short cliffs into pools of clean water (15 m is the highest, most are like 3-8 meters). You'll need water shoes and a heavy duty waterproof bag for your phone (no ziploc bags, they won't work). You will be swimming in one of the cleanest rivers with lots of water falls (ends up at Kawasan Falls) and there's volcanic rock formations and great views.
I didn't do the whale shark viewing or the island jumping, but there are plenty of choices that are family friendly. At night time there's one or two smaller discos that are open late.
I wouldn't highly recommend this area for solo travelers, it's more for couples and families and groups of friends.
You should definitely rent a motorscooter if you want to see all the surrounding attractions on your own schedule, otherwise you'll be paying for a lot of trike rides or waiting on group vans.
Gas is pretty cheap, and I only spent a couple hundred pesos on gas over three days to see pretty much everything (even Osemena Peak). Scooter rental is 350-500 pesos per day.
Joy is an incredible host who will go to any lengths for her guests. I highly recommend this place to anyone coming to Cebu. INCREDIBLE location with both a club and dive bar scene, gorgeous views, and many activities. Joy, however, is the best thing about Cebu. She made us breakfast, arranged a cheap taxi, and got us an incredible snorkeling experience. She is kind, funny, and generous. We even arrived late due to a cyclone shutting down roads, and she was so understanding and motherly. Amazing person and an amazing hotel in an amazing place!
Absolutely Everything! My girlfriend and I were so upset that this was fully booked for the week, we wanted to stay longer. Every time we passed we gave heart signs
- the best costumer service, they make sure everything you need is there for you and more
- the room is so comfortable
- the outside kitchen to use was so useful every night and even midnight eating
- has solar so we never experience brown out
- just outside of town and 3 mins from beach great location (trust me, the beach side hotels are not it)
The property is on a quiet street with direct access to the beach and away from crowds.
Ideal if you are after the sardine run or visit pescador island (unlike white beach which is further up north)
The view from breakfast is fantastic (just like the photos)
Free home made breakfast
Lodge has a family / home vibe to it
Plenty of Restaurants and bars 10-15 min walk
Friendly staff and owners who helped us arrange activities and private transport back to Cebu airport
Staff were really welcoming and provided everything needed for our stay. Staff were so helpful when it came to us asking about activities and places to visit in the area. We were able to book the Whale Sharks watching and Canyoneering through the hotel which made things easier too. The hotel was in a great location, near the main strip of restaurants and Moalboal beaches. The hotel provided delicious breakfast, we highly recommend the banana pancakes!!
Everything was exceptional! Not one bad thing can be said about our stay. The location, facilities, proximity to a beautiful beach, attention to every little detail, delicious food, simply superb. But what I appreciated the most was the hospitality of Sister Theresa. She is an extremely caring and attentive host who made sure that we had the most amazing stay. When in Moalboal look no further for the accommodation.
We liked everything about the staff and the hotel. There was a welcoming feel, and we liked the ambience of all the plants trees flora and fauna and other arrangements, above all we liked the cleanliness of the entire hotel the pool is awesome and cleaned daily, Moalboal Tropics is definitely one of the best hotels we stayed in Moalboal and we will definitely be back.
We loved the location, got a scooter and could drive to white beach , or the local beach where all the bars and tourists are.
The owners where the ones who made our stay very special though.
We extended for 3 extra nights, and Martin took his open water diver certification with Chris, who is an amazing instructor with up to date equipment and very good prices
Beautiful little villas a 5-10 min bike from the main beach strip in Moalboal. Fantastic common areas for hanging out with other travelers. Free pool, darts, games, and paid archery if you want to do that. Definitely much quieter out here than right in town, which we liked. Good little restaurant with great prices for food and drinks, and free water.
Loved how this private beach is next to the local Filipino beach. You'll see the real people who live here and they are happy! Different from other tourist beaches and parts of Moalboal. Quiet and nice to sit outside or on the beach. Great smoothies and lovely staff. You'll enjoy taking it slower here.
Rooms are very clean and spacious, Good mattress and pillow. . Very friendly owner and staff. Located in a green area not far from 'White beach.''I had a perfect stay and a perfect sleep. They also have an outside kitchen which could be nice for people who like to cook for themselves.
We stayed at Cebu Seaview Dive Resort for 4 nights (5 days). The hotel and especially the kindness of the staff was exceptional! The location is good, there is a nice swimming pool and easy access to the beach. We rent a motorbike for 2 days, so it was easier for us to visit MoalBoal.
The property is right next to the beach and only a 10 minute walk to Moalboal beach where the sardine run is. Booking tours through the hotel was great, the lady was very informative. The hotel provides a shuttle from Cebu airport for a fair price.
"I recently stayed at this private hotel in Moalboal and it was the perfect escape from the noise of the city. The staff were friendly.. The hotel's location, with its private access to the beach, made for a peaceful and relaxing experience.
Good location- only a short walk to the town and bars but just enough out of the town for it to be nice and quiet, good value for money- one of the cheapest hotels you’ll find in Moalboal, good sized bed, proper towels, friendly staff
Rooms are new so they haven't been overused yet. Close to Moalboal and the main road to other locations. On site scooter rental. It is not in Panagsama 'beach' area so it's quiet at night. Terrace with seating outside the room.
Great little hotel that is a stones throw from the beach, bars and restaurants. Will it is close it still maintains its peaceful ambience. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Great pool area. The restaurant was great.
Great location as only 5 minutes from the beach front, where we were able to snorkel and see the turtles! The hotel had a lovely pool and the room was clean and spacious. Would recommend for your stay in Moalboal!
A Very clean spacious room. Breakfast can be taken in the room free of charge & its a good one. The hotel faces a rocks beach and a small pool, the view is nice near the restaurant. The staff is helpful & nice.
The location is really close to the beach and diving centres. It's also convenience to reach restaurants. The room is spacious enough and cozy. I will book Dgecko again if I come back to Moalboal.
