Clean and comfortable. Helpful. Good price. Good location in terms of being central. Easy to walk to river, city centre etc. The street outside was extremely noisy every night until 4am which made it difficult to sleep without ear plugs. |

Central location - a short walk from Sao Bento station, easy to find once you know that it's right next to the Porto Coliseu. Clean room, friendly staff, nice buffet breakfast, near to a supermarket and lots of eateries. |

Residencial Escondidinho is a nice little hotel in the centre of Porto. The sign outside says 4* which it's not by any means but it probably was when it opened about40 years ago. It is outdated and smelt a bit musty but it was clean and the staff were top notch. We got a great rate of E35 per night bb which was fantastic. The hotel is walking distance to most of the attractions in Porto and the Metro is about 5 minutes away which is easy to use to move about the rest of the city. The hotel, like alot of Porto is on a huge steep hill so I wouldn't recommend it for small children or the elderly. breakfast is very simple, cereal, bread, cheese and ham but it's enough to get you started. |

The price: 22.50€! The location. Fine for a budget hotel. Good service. Le prix: 22.50€! La situation. Bon état pour un hôtel peu cher. The noise. My room was on the front of the house and there was an all night party/club opposite with extremely loud music and drunken shouting in the road until 7am! It was Saturday night and maybe this is not always the case.... Le bruit. La chambre était sur le devant de l'hôtel et il y avait une fête/une bôîte en face avec musique à fond et les gens bourrés qui criaient dans la rue jusqu'à 7h du matin! C'était samedi soir et peut être inhabituel..... |

Although the decor, carpeting etc are rather "tired", the room was well equipped and furnished, and the bed very comfortable. Service good and friendly. Good breakfast. Very central location - excellent if you arrive by train. With a very low room rate this was outstanding value. |

Excellent location, within walking distance of most of the places we wanted to see in Oporto. Our room had easily the best lighting of any that we stayed in - bright enough to read by! Buffet continental breakfast included a bowl of fresh fruit. Good value hotel. The woman on reception when we arrived spoke no English, but was very friendly and somehow we did manage to communicate OK. Later in the day one or two younger women were rostered onto the desk, and they all spoke excellent English. |

Friendly staff, good location, within walking distance of the places we wanted to explore in Oporto. Good basic continental breakfast - including a bowl of fresh fruit. Rooms not large, but clean and adequate - good value hotel for budget travellers like ourselves. The woman at reception when we arrived spoke no English, but tried very hard to communicate, was very friendly, and we managed OK. Two or three younger women who spoke excellent English seemed to come on duty later in the day, and in the evenings, & were able to answer any questions we had. |

Good downtown location near via catarina shopping area. Rooms were very clean, large bathrooms. Tons of street noise - I am young and enjoy a scene but this was ridiculous. Near a chuch and you can her the bells ring loudly every hour on the hour. I got no sleep during my two night stay here. |

The staff were very pleasant & helpful, the rooms clean and breakfast good. The hotel is inexpensive and this has to be taken in account when reading the remarks below. Sadly, it is very noisy outside. If they can do something about that it would be a very good place to stay. |

The location was good for the city. The staff, while not speaking English, were very helpful and tolerant of my Portuguese. Wireless signal was weak, but workable. |
