This was our first time in Suriname and we were blown away by our stay at Holland Lodge.
1) The staff was exceptional! Before our arrival, they helped us with an airport transfer (the airport is FAR from the city, spring for the transport!). During our stay they helped us do laundry for a reasonable price, helped us order food when we arrived late, and also helped us book a dolphin cruise last minute. Even more so they went above and beyond. I got a pretty nasty infection the day before we left for the interior and Sherona helped me find a doctor, called her on my behalf, and helped me set up the my appointment- truly incredible service! Then we ordered food a second time and were told by Pizza Hut they would take my visa credit card upon delivery. This was untrue but Lucy at the front desk immediately stepped in, paid him in cash on our behalf and put it on our room bill- absolutely amazing service!
2) This place was CLEAN- like clean clean. The sheets were spotless, the room was white glove clean which we really appreciated.
3) Breakfast- Breakfast was 12USD to add on which seemed steep but it was so nice not to worry about it in the morning and the food was fantastic.
We truly appreciated our stay and the staff is truly who blew this place out of the water! Incredible. We hope to visit again!

Paramaribo needs a lot of renovation and there are some suspicious characters in some places at night, but that being said, it is a fascinating and unique place and worth seeing. The fort, the markets, the riverfront, the great food, the cathedral, the synagogue and the palm garden are all worthwhile.

It was a very interesting place with evidence of its multicultural mix of population. Saw lots of Indian and Chinese owned businesses. Didn't see much businesses from other cultures. Saw many monuments of historical significance. Loved the architecture of the buildings. Very disappointed to see so many Casinos in the City with such a small population.

Paramaribo is a safe place, however, when we arrived we were highly prevented about thieves on the street, gangsters etc... people are friendly and attentive, always helpful and ready to provide useful information. tourism is not well developed, however, there are some tourist agencies which organise some tours to jungles and to the closest neighbourhoods... call to Orange, Zuz&zo ... they speak good English. we were in June there so the season of heavy reines started and you should be aware that half of the day you are wet. the rein is warm so you can easily forget a raincoat, but don't forget dry clothes) we didn't have many chances to see animals, however, our guides did their best to find them. so, turtles ponding eggs, dolphins in the river and monkeys in the trees you will see for sure) kitchen - I a consequence of multicultural crossroads - so you eat well, even veggie meals are not a pb to find. the country still is suffering from a low economic level, people are poor, streets, river banks, market places are dirty... but they do a lot of affords to show their best

Paramaribo was nice.
Paramaribo was nice. Not very easy to get around when trying to go shopping and didn't feel like it catered to tourists and very expensive for shopping. They did not take any international credit cards nor did the bank or cambios accept any Guyanese currency for exchange so our spending became limited with the limited USD cash we had.

Very safe for I did not feel threatened, however do not like seeing people asking for money though they do not pester you.
People are friendly and helpful when giving directions, and many know English if you cannot speak Dutch.
But it is important to acquire a street map to find your own way around and get used to the names of streets when locals give directions to find places.
Pavema has a great location near the city center and has a breakfast/lunchroom and supermarket within couple minutes walking distance. The bedrooms and living room all had airconditioning and the pool was very nice and clean. The staff is very friendly and you can ask them anything. One night our bathroom light burned and within 10minutes someone came to repair it, excellent service! Thank you Pavema we would definitely recommend to stay.
The hotel is a lovely old building in the unesco world heritage site part of the city five minutes walk from independence square and 10 minutes from restaurants. The interior is modern, well furnished and we could not have had a warmer welcome from the staff. Our room was spacious and clean. Everything worked. The best bathroom in the whole of our south america trip.
Generous breakfast.
Great value.
The staff are outstanding.
The hotel staff was very welcoming and friendly, and the hotel itself is a beautiful building. The owner helped us sort out transport, pointed out a place for money change, even walked with us at night to help us find the nearest restaurant. Our kids enjoyed the place a a lot as well. It's very kids friendly and the pool is a lot of fun. Breakfast was also excellent. I would hightly recommend it to others visiting Paramaribo.
Spacious room, fully accessorized, excellent air conditioning and Wifi. Rich breakfast including fresh fruits and vegetables. The hotel has various sitting areas where you can sit down and relax. A hop skip from "restaurant road", and a short walking distance to all of Paramaribo's main attractions. It's probably the best hotel I stayed at across Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana.
Airport pick up service was $30USD; the airport is FAR from the city, so arranging it in advance is mandatory and recommended; I was so happy to see the Apartment Sign in the arrivals area when I got there at 2 am. Ride was with the owner's son -- he shared great local information on the hourlong drive, so even though it was LATE at night, the ride was quite pleasant!
Carolien was an amazing host, very helpful, attentive, and understanding. She was always there to assist and guide. The place is nice and cozy with everything you need to feel yourself at home.
Carolien helped me with a transfer and to the airport and let me leave my backpack while I was on my trip to Upper Suriname. I recommend this place.
Rooms were very clean and the housekeeping ladies were fantastic. Also Natasha in the restaurant was very welcoming, very professional and would be the reason of me returning to this hotel. She is fantastic and Management should be aware of the great leader she is. The a la cart food in the restaurant was very good.
Location is great! They have tours and rent bikes. There were no tours offered on the days I was visiting, but I highly recommend renting a bike and seeing the city and exploring the plantations. They have strong AC was great! If you want to save money on a room, this a good place.
Really enjoyed the place, well organized with everything to get you in holiday mood. close to the city center. Quiet and secure at night. Dinesh and Bart were really welcoming and helpful like other people I met in Paramaribo. Thanks you very much.
This accommodation is a spectacular diamond in the rough. It exceeded by expectations, both in terms of facilities and hospitality. Not only would I stay here again, I actually didn't want to leave. Best in Suriname (and Guyana).
The Greenheart Boutique Hotel is a quiet oasis near the heart of Paramaribo. Delicious breakfast with generous and helpful staff. My family loved staying here. It is cozy, solid, well maintained, clean, and friendly. Thank you!
This is the only hostel in any of the Guyanas. The reception (and the owner) are full of useful information, and can also help book transportation and excursions. It's cheap, and extremely clean. It's well-located in the town.
Absolutely, this is the best hotel in Paramaribo.
Reasonable price and staffs were very kind and friendly!
Location is also nice for sightseeing.
I highly recommend staying in this hotel.
Very good location in Paramaribo, the hotel is offering a nice restaurant, a large pool is large, sauna and jacuzzi. the garden is huge as well, going until the river.
the location of the property is perfect the roads are not to busy but it is centrally located. I walked from the hotel to the city center everything is very close.
Hotel is a recently renewed place, located in front of the paramaribo central market. Not a really as good as expected. but ok for a 2 or 3 days business trip.
