This was our first time in Suriname and we were blown away by our stay at Holland Lodge.
1) The staff was exceptional! Before our arrival, they helped us with an airport transfer (the airport is FAR from the city, spring for the transport!). During our stay they helped us do laundry for a reasonable price, helped us order food when we arrived late, and also helped us book a dolphin cruise last minute. Even more so they went above and beyond. I got a pretty nasty infection the day before we left for the interior and Sherona helped me find a doctor, called her on my behalf, and helped me set up the my appointment- truly incredible service! Then we ordered food a second time and were told by Pizza Hut they would take my visa credit card upon delivery. This was untrue but Lucy at the front desk immediately stepped in, paid him in cash on our behalf and put it on our room bill- absolutely amazing service!
2) This place was CLEAN- like clean clean. The sheets were spotless, the room was white glove clean which we really appreciated.
3) Breakfast- Breakfast was 12USD to add on which seemed steep but it was so nice not to worry about it in the morning and the food was fantastic.
We truly appreciated our stay and the staff is truly who blew this place out of the water! Incredible. We hope to visit again!

Liked this property vs the other similar property downtown. This street was cute and felt safe. Always be aware of your surroundings. I was a little Leary of walking around at night. But there are many good restaurants in a 10 min walk. Good AC. Good breakfast. Staff was super kind. Ordered me a clean and safe taxi to the airport

Paramaribo needs a lot of renovation and there are some suspicious characters in some places at night, but that being said, it is a fascinating and unique place and worth seeing. The fort, the markets, the riverfront, the great food, the cathedral, the synagogue and the palm garden are all worthwhile.

It was a very interesting place with evidence of its multicultural mix of population. Saw lots of Indian and Chinese owned businesses. Didn't see much businesses from other cultures. Saw many monuments of historical significance. Loved the architecture of the buildings. Very disappointed to see so many Casinos in the City with such a small population.

Paramaribo is a safe place, however, when we arrived we were highly prevented about thieves on the street, gangsters etc... people are friendly and attentive, always helpful and ready to provide useful information. tourism is not well developed, however, there are some tourist agencies which organise some tours to jungles and to the closest neighbourhoods... call to Orange, Zuz&zo ... they speak good English. we were in June there so the season of heavy reines started and you should be aware that half of the day you are wet. the rein is warm so you can easily forget a raincoat, but don't forget dry clothes) we didn't have many chances to see animals, however, our guides did their best to find them. so, turtles ponding eggs, dolphins in the river and monkeys in the trees you will see for sure) kitchen - I a consequence of multicultural crossroads - so you eat well, even veggie meals are not a pb to find. the country still is suffering from a low economic level, people are poor, streets, river banks, market places are dirty... but they do a lot of affords to show their best

Paramaribo was nice.
Paramaribo was nice. Not very easy to get around when trying to go shopping and didn't feel like it catered to tourists and very expensive for shopping. They did not take any international credit cards nor did the bank or cambios accept any Guyanese currency for exchange so our spending became limited with the limited USD cash we had.

Very safe for I did not feel threatened, however do not like seeing people asking for money though they do not pester you.
People are friendly and helpful when giving directions, and many know English if you cannot speak Dutch.
But it is important to acquire a street map to find your own way around and get used to the names of streets when locals give directions to find places.
This was the greatest place I stayed at in Suriname. Traveling alone as a woman in Suriname can be tough, but I really liked how peaceful this hostel was. The snug inner courtyard, the lovely old colonial-style building, and the hammocks were all great features that made my stay even better. Plus, the staff were really helpful and made me feel welcome. And I can't forget to mention how delicious the breakfast was! It was just perfect.
Book a room with a balcony if there is an availability. Small difference in price HUGE in quality.
I've been around the world (60 countries), but never felt at home abroad more than here due to the friendly atmosphere The manager and staff were exceptional. We spent a lot of time chatting with them and other guests around the well kept garden and pool. With a lovely old style charm, the property was squeaky clean. The little library on the second floor landing was a nice touch. Even though we’d planned to book a famous 5 star hotel after our inland tour in Suriname, this is where we’ll return for its value for money!
Renault was a fantastic host who gave such a warm welcome willing to help with anything I needed. The apartment had everything needed, the bed was comfy & the kitchen was fully stalked. The location was perfect. There is a big modern grocery store across the street where you can find anything you need. Taxis are only a $1 5 min ride to historic city centre, or you can walk 20mins. There's also a gym in the lobby area & the treadmill worked great. Thank you for everything. Looking forward to coming back!
I utterly love everything about this hotel. It is like a home away from home. A total oasis. Rinesh is the best and all the staff is amazing. The room is spacious, clean, modern, beautifully appointed. The common area has a beautiful outdoor seating and small pool with nice decoration and even waterfalls with soothing sounds and an overall great vibe! I’ve been traveling across South America for 18 months and this hotel is one of the best.
Pavema has a great location near the city center and has a breakfast/lunchroom and supermarket within couple minutes walking distance. The bedrooms and living room all had airconditioning and the pool was very nice and clean. The staff is very friendly and you can ask them anything. One night our bathroom light burned and within 10minutes someone came to repair it, excellent service! Thank you Pavema we would definitely recommend to stay.
Hosts go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The room was very cute and had all necessary amenities, the mattress slept well and the mangoes from the garden were a delicious treat. Would definitely recommend it, hidden pearl in the center of Paramaribo, close to restaurants and places of interest. Keep up the good work!!
The hotel staff were very helpful to organize site seeing trips and taxis. Hotel organized and Excellent pink dolphin river cruise and plantation visits with an excellent guide.
Hotel is centrally located within walking distance to many restaurants and major cultural points of interests.
- super friendly manager and staff
- provided us with a reliable taxi driver who drove us every where for a reasonable price.
- apartments are large, clean and well layed out
- we were allowed to store some of our luggage when traveling to the upper Suriname river.
Met this lovely couple Rudy and Saski, who went above and beyond to make my staying an unforgettable experience. From the fresh sweet mangoes from backyard to the amazing morning coffee.
Mos definitely a reference to stay in Par'bo, best value for money.
The staff working there are nice. The location is convenient to the center of Paramaribo. The breakfast is good and they make eggs to your order in addition to the buffet. There is a small refrigerator in the room, which is helpful.
Clean. Small but comfortable rooms. Nice location within walking distance to the center of Paramaribo. Knowledgeable, efficient, and very personable staff. Would stay here again and recommend it to others.
Friendly, helpful staff. Quiet street. Clean room with reliable hot water. Good breakfast. Location is not far from some Government offices. I would go back there the next time I come to Paramaribo.
Good convenient location with walking distance to all of the attractions in Paramaribo.
Very clean, good value and amazing hosts.
Travel services and all the help you will need on the premises.
Alberga Guesthouse is a typical house of the most interesting part of Paramaribo and any local attraction is within a short walk. Ambience is warm and friendly and staff is really collaborative.
The place was like a tropical Oasis right in the middle of everything.
It's a small hotel but very nice and I felt totally safe getting up at 1:00am to come down and wait for the shuttle.
