i really enjoyed staying at Equity Point, the location was perfect, was worried that because it was off Times Square it would be noisey but it was a quite Hostel, well run, clean. The staff were helpful and accomodating. the free breakfast was great.also having my own locker in the room was great there were a few problems with the hot water but management did resolve it quickly enough. i would have loved more light in the room, even little lights over the bed would have been great. all in all it was a good hostel though and i would recommend it

This place is one of the best hostels i've seen! I've travelled all around the world but hands down i'm so glad that i picked it! It's so hard finding a good hostel in NYC with prime location. This definitely was a good for value!

Location and price I booked the hotel well in advance - almost 7 months before the trip. 2 weeks before the trip administration discussed the changing the hotel, we refused but we had to change the room for the last night which was much worse in comparison with the first one. The hotel changed its status of hostel instead of hotel in December, 2012 but it did not influence the price.

Location by Times Square was excellent From the photos and description, I was under the false impression this room had two double beds, not two bunk beds!!! The mattresses were uncomfortable and we had to get out of the way when someone wanted to move around. The clerk behind the desk couldn't figure out the rate and he tried to convince me that he had to pass along the 10 percent commission charged by booking.com. I have never had to pay a commission that a website charges to a hotel! The only good thing about this hotel (and it's really a hostel) is the location.

It was perfect. It was cheap, convenient, friendly & delightful. I would stay there a million times. They will hold your bags for you, checked in or not. But I discovered that my bag wasn't under lock & key. It is on a shelf in a hallway where people, if malicious enough, could attempt to take your belongings. My suggestions are to build a storage shelf, use their office instead or provide a lock & chain for your luggage & the current shelf they already have.

Excellent location just a minutes away from Times Square. Breakfast is very simple. Bathroom is clean. They keep your suitcase for free after check out. They provide towel and linens. The room was very small, luckily we were 3 in a 4-people room, else there would have been no space at all. The room got very hot so we had to keep the AC really high. No soap provided.

The Female receptionist would not let me use the phone to make a free call to the shuttle bus service I booked for my airport trip resulting in me having to use a taxi which cost me 85 dollars combined. I've never been to a hotel/hostel where this service has not been given. I even offered to pay.

Loved the colors used in the interior. Modern, different. The location is top, in 5 min walking youre in the centre of manhatten and the subway. Good beds, airconditioning and all verry clean. The bathroom is luxurios for a hostel. Also i like the breakfast. Yogurt, milk, toasted breds, fruits, coffee, croissants and more are unlimited available They placed me in a wrong room, a girls room where al beds are taken. Lucky me this was the reason i met a beatiful girl from Argentina, we spent a happy time together. So at the end I am happy for this mistake :)

I paid about $224 for a cramped room with no phone, no shampoo, no soap, no robe as advertised. I was not aware that Hotel 41 had been converted into a hostel and was surprised to see young travelers lined up being given beddings by just one hotel clerk. The hotel did not look anything like the photos on the website and the positive reviews on which I based my choice to book this hotel was probably based on the former Hotel 41. I felt cheated having to pay so much for a budget room. I have always been happy with my bookings with booking.com but this was an exceptionally bad experience. There is a huge difference between a hostel and a hotel. Equity Point has a lot of nerve charging what it does for such terrible accommodations with no amenities.

The location is excellent, rooms a bit small but then the location compensates any possible defect. Breakfast not flashing, but then again this is a budget hotel, staff very friendly, would definitely recommend.

The staff were friendly and the location excelent for the centre of Manhattan. The room was small but clean. The only real downsides were that the shower took forever to warm up and the bed was tiny for 2 to share meaning that we didn't have the best night's sleep. Otherwise, it's an expensive part of town but it still seemed very pricey for what it was. We had stayed at a 5* hotel in Long Island for less than this.

When I was researching our trip the location of Hotel 41 was always described as excellent. I cannot argue, having said that, it was not specifically the proximity to Times Square that was excellent but the fact that the $15 airport shuttle is 100 yards away, so practically door to door. The subway was 100 yards away, the open top tourist bus is 100 yards away and everything within Manhatten is in walkin distance. We had a great trip and it was seriousl enhanced by the location of this hotel. The bar wasn't open in the hotel due to rennovations !! We didn't know that before we got there. Considering I was expected to tip everybody in New York from bus conducters to barmen, should I not have expected a slight deduction on my bill as the warm feel to the bar picture on your website helped convince us to book that hotel in the first place. However, this did certainly not spoil our trip.
