The room was open with louvered windows, letting in the natural breezes. We each had our own bed to sleep in. The outdoor shower was very refreshing, which we enjoyed very much. The bathrooms were kept clean. Receiving a complementary coffee was nice. We appreciated getting to know some of the residents.

Our stay in this beautiful house in Hilo was a dream. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the quiet surroundings that enveloped us.
The house itself exuded an inspiring Balinese style, with its intricately carved wooden accents, soothing color palette, and thoughtfully curated decor. Every corner of the property seemed to have been designed with utmost care and attention to detail, creating a serene and harmonious atmosphere that instantly put us at ease.

Eliot, the host, made sure our stay was exceptional. His warm hospitality was evident from the moment we arrived.
He showed us the site of the 2018 eruption just blocks away. It was moving and informative to hear about the impact of it in the lives of the people living there. He kindly shared some avocados from his own tree, which we enjoyed as a delicious treat during our stay.
It's the little touches like these that made our experience all the more special.
Overall, we had an great and relaxing time in this Hawaiian oasis. The combination of the tranquil surroundings, the inspiring Balinese style, and the thoughtful amenities provided a rest from the all the exploration and activities in Hawaii. We wholeheartedly recommend this house to anyone seeking a rejuvenating retreat in Hilo.

The place is amazing, the rooms are big and has a good view to nature. There are only 3 rooms which make it even better as there is no one disturbing. We really enjoy our stay and we will recommend it.

Pahoa is smaller than Hilo but feels more authentically Hawaiian. Having said that, there is access to restaurants, a grocery store, gift shops etc. It was a good starting point for trips to a black sand beach, the volcano, the botanical gardens (a must see!), and other sites.

PAHOA is a very Large district many individual suburbs, Kalapana, Kalapana Estate Pahoa, Hawaiian Gardens, Paradise, Orchidland. Ainaloa, Leilani Estate and so forth I believe it's all part of PUNA. So it's huge... Over all I really enjoy Pahoa cause I have my best friend who lives and work in the heart of Pahoa she's is such a blessing. So Yes I Love It There. Lots of delicious places to eat at even from the side of the road, Certain days you can buy Fresh Tuna and other fish right from the Ahi Man!!! Amazing 😍

Pahoa is off of the beaten path.
Pahoa is off of the beaten path. I have come to Pahoa only to visit my family members who have lived on the island for over 10 years. The town Pahoa has added a good shopping center with Malama grocery. And Pahoa is close to the volcano and the beautiful coast. Wouldn't recommend Pahoa as a tourist destination. But if you're not the touristy type, this is the place for you.

Close to the most recent lava flows, Lava Tree State Monument, Star of the Sea Painted Church and scenic coastal drives. Nice small town with several places to eat. We particularly liked Pho 19 and the Smoothie Shack. Olympic size public pool. Lap swimming is free!

Try to go to Uncle Roberts place at the end of the road on Wednesday nights. Quite the experience. Other things around the area offer lots of lava and the state and national parks (especially the ones on the water) are amazing. Great remote place like no other.

Love Pahoa and it's aloha spirit, a community devastated and dealing with so much after last year's eruption. My visit was primarily to meet with friends and to make a minor contribution to the community struggling to rebuild and recover from Tutu Pele's "redecorating". The relocated Volcano museum was educational and Vincent made my day! Mahalo Vincent! Don't miss the opportunity for lunch or dinner at Kaleo's ….ono food!
Location: So close to beach, hilo and vulcano national park
Free Parking nearby
Super spacious room with comfortable double bed
Very friendly owner
Least expensive private room on the whole island, maybe even in whole of state hawaii
Kitchen fully equipped, Restrooms nice
Nice sitting area outside, and hanging around makes fun too, super quiet to sleep. My favorite Hostel from now on, i would call the whole area with private rooms more like HOTEL instead of HOSTEL
Location outside Pahoa was beautiful and calm; distinct from Hilo. There was easy access to downtown Pahoa and it was an easy drive to Hilo. The grounds were lovely and the interior unique. The kitchen facilities were as expected. There was an excellent guide book that we found very useful in guiding our travels. As I started doing pottery in retirement, I appreciated that the owner, a potter, showed me his kiln and lovely pots. One of them came home with me.
Raven and Mark are incredible hosts and have created an amazing lodge in Big Island. Off the beaten path but yet close to town, it's the perfect escape. The suite was huge with a beautiful garden and outdoor shower. In the morning, Raven made delicious breakfast with eggs, toast and fruit presented very artistically! Rest of the day we spent in nearby beaches and also watched gorgeous sunsets from their lanai. Can't recommend this place enough!
we loved our stay and enjoyed our time in the hilo area. the location is beautiful with a lovely yard and pool area. the 3 dogs are also a big plus and were loads of fun to have around. they were so accommodating and after forgetting something in our room they had it sent to our next destination(different island!)
thanks so much for the great time
The place was wonderful! It was a large unit with comfy bed, good sized bathroom and a living room/ kitchen area. We had a private entrance. They were both very friendly, kind and gave us good advice on things to do. The nearby town had a nice choice of restaurants and the ones we went to were good. Great place to stay!
Helpful staf that picked and dropped me in Pahoa.
Pretty good wifi. I had to make a video call (which I usually don't do and hate) and it worked fine.
Room was comfortable.
The road is in bad condition but regular cars can definitely make it.
Clean.
Very remote. Again, I liked it, but maybe not for everyone.
Eliot's vacation home is vibrant and spacious and is nestled amongst lush fauna and flora of Pāhoa. Eliot went above and beyond and embodies the spirit of generosity. We are so thankful for his insights into local eats, attractions and the beautiful home he provided. I hope to return someday.
Great bungalow, amazing atmosphere, perfect location for Pahoa and very cozy for someone alone or a couple. The outside of the room is very nice for breakfast or for meditating. The kitchen has everything. There were some fruits on my arrival. The bathroom was very clean and well equipped.
This place gave us a feeling of being a guest at a dear old friends home more so than at a bed and breakfast. We were given the warmest possible welcome and were almost sad to have to check out again and hit the road. Thank you so much for your hospitality. Ciao from Yin and Jan.
The location was amazing! Off the beaten path. Quiet. Beautiful. Spacious. Views of the ocean and sunrise from the lanai.
We had plenty of kitchen tools to cook for ourselves if we wanted. But also close enough to Pahoa go out to eat.
The hosts were friendly and very helpful.
The host was very friendly. Our experience was like visiting a family member (like visiting uncle), very welcoming and caring. We had really good conversations. It is not a hotel but host is doing further improvements to make your experience to the best.
The laid back local vibe, the solitude and solace of the property, the opportunity to meet local residents and friends of the host.. on site and at other nearby events and properties. The rain on the roof in the Garden Room when it occurred!
Beautiful house in a peaceful location. Very interesting to see Fissure 8 nearby. Lots of room and storage. Very nice to have 2.5 bathrooms. We enjoyed sitting out in the yard. The host was kind and interesting to talk to .
The property was beautiful, and a nice size house. Location was near Hilo and volcano, so after activities it was great to unwind and relax. Host was attentive to anything we needed and very helpful on things to do.
Beautiful location near the ocean. Lovely artwork. Outside shower. One comfortable bed. Roomy. Lots of lights. Very friendly and eager staff. Great climate. Bidet. Lots of outlets. Good wifi when it work
A nice house in the beautiful rainforest. We loved everything, especially the hot tub. The host was very kind and provided a ton of information regarding sights to visit and nearby events.
The location of this property is good. The setting is beautiful - it is essentially in the jungle and close to Pahoa town. The location is good for getting to Volcano National Park.
