Please be informed that we booked the hotel Hudson in New York from 31/07 till 03/08. The booking was confirmed by booking.com. Unfortunately when we arrived the hotel could not confirm the booking and said we had no reservation and that it was cancelled by booking.com. It took us more than two hours of calling with booking.com and tough negotiation to get the booking at the hotel and to keep the price we agreed through booking.com. The booking.com confirmed that our credit card and confirmation on the booking of hotel was fine and it was not cancelled by booking.com. The management of the hotel claimed that the credit card was cancelled, which was not true, since booking.com confirmed the opposite. We were surprised on the way things were handled by the hotel management. We would appreciate if you could check with the hotel what went wrong and how we can avoid this misunderstanding about reservations through booking.com in the future. Lastly, we have never had any problems with booking.com and we have always made reservations through, therefore I can claim the management of the hotel was a torn in a hill. Awaiting your early reply,

The Hudson hotel is in a great location - steps from Central Park, great restaurants nearby, one block from subway location, and very close to shopping (Columbus Circle, 5th Ave, etc.). The interior design of the hotel is very inviting - modern with great public areas (Sky Terrace view from the 15th floor is great & the lounge area in The Park is super comfy and a great place to meet friends for drinks!).

Location was the best about the hotel. Also really liked the cool look of the hotel and the dining room and the porters. Food was excellent. Most important however, all staff was particularly kind and professional. We stayed during hurricane Irene and all did a fantastic job: staff stayed on the premises, regular telephone messages from the General Manager kept us updated on the situation. For a hotel in this category, the room was minuscule, there was no bathroom to speak of, just a tiny L-shape space for a shower with a glass wall into the bedroom. Very loud air conditioning, could not even drown the outside city noise. With an enforced stay due to the hurricane, the darkness of the common spaces was a bit overwhelming.

The hotel was right off Columbus Circle and very convenient for my needs. While small, the room was enough space for a solo traveler. It would have been crowded for more than one person, especially since the bathroom was too small to use for blowdrying hair or applying makeup. Bed and pillows were comfortable. Trendy lobby, bar, and decor. The TV channel selection was limited. The volume and channel would randomly change while I was watching (interference from a remote in another room?). Despite having temperature control settings, the AC seemed to only have 2 modes - on at full blast or off. I would have to constantly turn it on and off to keep it at a comfortable temp. Elevators were busy and slow, especially when 2-3 of them were reserved for private events one night. I gave up and took the stairs after 10 minutes.

Decent location, decent buffet breakfast, nice outdoor drinking area Rooms smelt of cigarette smoke, rooms tiny and grubby , some rooms located directly beside noisy air-conditioning units, denied pre-packaged breakfast due to 'private event', front desk staff did not return calls on multiple occasions despite saying they would do so, some front desk staff being dishonest, some front desk staff having cocky attitude, long lines at front desk, taking many minutes to get through to front desk and room service on telephone, room service trays being left uncollected outside rooms for days at a time, various bars being closed to guests for 'private events' on multiple occasions, many cable channels being of unwatchable quality, bath/shower backing up, poor shower stream and heat, bathroom minuscule - especially if person is slightly oversize or disabled, deductions for poor service not being applied to final bill, long waits for overcrowded elevators of which there are not enough

I loved this hotel. The location was perfect, right around the corner from Columbus circle and the park. Walk to times square. The rooms are small but decorated smart with sleek design for space as well as comfortable bed. I cannot say enough about the hotel staff! Vicky vargas and James at the door amongst all the other staff was above and beyond helpful and friendly. All the reason to return. I loved the library bar and courtyard and the club was a blast late nights. Thank you for a wonderful time Lisa from Boston

You have a very nice hotel. It is great to find such a place in the middle of a big city. Very relaxing and different. The outside cafe and roof garden are excellent. Staff were very helpful. I booked the hotel at very short notice based on location and price on my first visit to NYC. I travel all over the world on business and would be first in line to give it a hard time if it wasn't up to scratch! I would (and already have) recommended Hudson as a great place to stay having been there. It's just the sort of place I like. None. i had a good time.

When you called the front desk, the service was really fast. For example we experienced many problems upon checking in and they were resolved fairly fast. We arrrived early in the morning and the hotel was very accommodating to hold our lugguage and told us our room would be ready at 3pm. We returned at 5pm. And were told that our room was not ready yet and would be on the 17th floor, to go have a drink at the bar and someone would come and get us. She said another couple were doing the same as us. Two drinks later no one came to get us, so we approached another lady at the front desk and she told us that our room on the 17th floor was no longer available that they had one on the 8th floor for us. During our time spent at their bar they had down graded us 1/2 our floors! We got to our room and the dead bolt did not work and the upgraded room was really small. Call the front desk and they said they would send an Engineer up to have a look at our door, so again we waited around before unpacking for the Engineer to come and have a look at our door. They finally had to move us rooms since he couldn't fix it. It was 9:30 before we could get ready to go out for supper, but after that was all done with, everything else was super. I also found it very dark, would be hard for older people to be able to see around the hotel/elevators and reception area. Closing the upstairs bar at 10:30 is way to early, especially when the weather is cooperating. People were really upset about that, heard many complaints.

Good location near Columbus Cicle, Lincoln Centre and Central Park which all two minutes away Room very small but this is usual for New York but bed far too low, level of lighting in the hotel is very low so much you can hardly read the floor numbers in the lift. I know this is part of the hotel design but makes the place very sombre. Not a hotel to relax in but functional for its purpose which seems to be for the business visitor coming in for a day or so and spending little time in the hotel. This would not be a hotel for a relaxing stay.

Price and Location The room was in very poor condition - the power went out in the room when the hotel blow dryer was turned on. Also, the nailing of the shower rod into the ceiling was out of the wall and close to falling down. I am all for settling for a "cheaper room", but this certain room (#915) was pretty ridiculous.

The hotel's design & style was very nice. The customer service was great- everyone @ the counter was very helpful. The bed was extremely comfortable. The hotel room was very small. Not very ideal for any sort of relaxing. The room I stayed in seemed to have a drainage problem in the shower- therefore when I would shower, bath water would collect w/out draining quickly enough. Also, the elevators were very delayed @ every point in taking them- no matter the time.

Concierge were excellent, very helpful and friendly hotel was in excellent location for sightseeing, close to subway, very good breakfast, very nice roof terrace Our room was very very small, though comfortable. Could hear music from terrace bar in our room so had to have fan on to block out the noise so we could sleep. The lobby, breakfast room and hallways were too dark.

During my stying at the hotel I faced too many problems for an hotel of its level/price. Just to give example: - I had to wait an average of 30 minutes every day to have my breakfast at the internal facility because they didn't have enough space. - the rooms do not have a double glasses window ... this menas that if you stay is a room at the firsts floors it is very difficult to sleep. ( I was at the 4th floor and I was obliged to ask for a new room)

The room was clean and efficient, but small. I realze that we only spent a limited amount of time in the room, but the bathroom was unbelievably tine When your knees are jammed against the wall while seated on the toilet, that's too small. Elevator service for the first three days was acceptable to good, but apparently several were taken out of service which made wait time less than optimal.

The location is rather good, close to the Colombus circle and Central Park The hotel urgently needs a refurbishment. My children got stuck in the elevator and had to be escaped by the New York Fire Department. The telphone and the TV set in the room was not functioning.

The roof top bar was very nice. I was disappointed with this hotel for a number of reasons. The staff at the front desk were not overly helpful. We were not given any advice when checking in e.g. about buying breakfast, any restaurants in the hotel, the wifi etc. We were literally given our room card and directed to the elevators. When we needed to go to the front desk for anything there were always large queues and only one person on the desk at a time seemed to be able to deal with changing travellers cheques, so in effect I queued twice. The lack of lighting in the hotel makes it look dark and dingy. The public telephones on the ground floor did not work. The cleaners were constantly harassing us every morning to come in, on more than once occasion they had to be told twice to come back later. The hairdryer in my room had blue sparks coming from it. This hotel is definitely suited for people staying in the city for one or two nights maximum, we stayed for four nights and it was disappointly uncomfortable after a long day sightseeing. Wouldn't stay here again.

I would highly recommend this hotel. Staff is just awesome, location can't be beaten, great price offers here at Booking.com and this hotel is beautiful, clean and brand new. Definitely my first choice when staying in the city, whether on business or leisure. Rooms are on the small side but that's not an issue for me and when traveling with more people you can choose a nice sized double queen bed room.

Overall it was a great stay...love the private park! Such a hidden gem in midtown manhattan!! Hudson Hall was great as well, amazing food and incredible atmosphere!! Well the computer system was down when I arrieved to check in at 10pm...it took quite some time before I could be checked in and then even loger for the bell cap to bring my bags(which had been checked upon my arrival earlier in the day as my room was not ready). Although this was a huge inconvienience, I realized these things happen and have to give credit to the front dest staff who all handled this was grace and professionalism!

Classy, could meet with business associates in the lobby. Close to subway. Also a nice little gym. Room was a little small, but it was clean and neat, so that made up for it. The fact that breakfast (I booked the hotel in a hurry and expected this to be included in the price as with my previous hotels) and even Internet were not included in the (high) room price was definitely a disappointment and a negative thing and even though I would otherwise recommend the hotel, I would strongly underline this fact.
