Macarty House is conveniently located just minutes from the French Quarter in the funky arts district known as the Bywater. This historic mansion was built in the 1860’s and now available as a whole home rental. The home accommodates up to 16 guests maximum for overnight stays, each of the 8 rooms with an ensuite bathroom. THE SPACE Property owners live on site, in a small owners unit on the back side of the main house. Our private residence is unavailable for use or access during your stay. The property’s spacious grounds include a cabana bar complete with ice machine, a beautifully maintained mineral water pool, and a garden space surrounding the 1,000 sq ft pool deck providing beautiful, only in New Orleans setting. The main home boasts six (6) rooms each with ensuite (private) bath. There are two (2) additional rooms, each with ensuite (private) bath located in the pool cottage. All eight (8) of the rooms are are included in the rental.
We met in 2012, shortly after we both moved to New Orleans. In April 2017, we became the stewards of Maison de Macarty Bed & Breakfast (now Macarty House) where we were married in November 2017. We are excited to host fellow travelers in this lovely historic New Orleans home. We are delighted to be your hosts during your stay at our lovely home.
We're located in the fun and funky Bywater neighborhood which is about 1.5 miles from the French Quarter and is in walking distance of numerous bars, restaurants, and live music. Lots of artists and musicians make their homes in this neighborhood so there is always something to see or hear as you walk through the streets. Be sure to check out the Artist's Lofts a block away or Dr. Bob's art warehouse, known for his "Be Nice or Leave" signs, Crescent Park, StudioBe, the Piety Street Art Market, The Music Box... there's so many. Getting around Parking is available on site but there is also ample parking on the street. Don't have a car? Uber, Lyft, recommended shuttle/tour services, and United Cabs are readily available by call ahead or app. Feeling adventurous? There's a bank of rental Blue Bikes right across the street at the library as well as several long term bike rental shops nearby.
