Bastrop retains the best of small-town Texas (a quaint main street! American flags draped everywhere!) while still reaping the big-city benefits of nearby Austin (25 minutes to the airport!). Today, Bastrop is home to a famous DJ, a famous chef, a famous writer, and like every other place in Texas, there is speculation that Elon Musk is moving here, too. A visit to downtown Bastrop is akin to a choose-your-own adventure. Want to catch a buzz? Bastrop Beer Company, Colorado River Winery, 602 Brewing Company, and Cooper Shot Distillery all sit within a three-block radius. Hungry? Neighbor's Kitchen + Yard, Base Camp Deli, Anita's Mexican, and Tough Cookie Bakery all come highly recommended. Need a dose of nature?
