A great location from which to see all the jewels of Northern Vietnam. An authentic city, very busy, vibrant, sometimes crazy. The traffic is terrible- bike riders ignore rules and traffic lights. The weather is very humid, can be unbearable in the afternoon. I stayed 3 nights in Hanoi but it's not enough especially if you will go for a Ha Long Bay Day cruise. More reasons to come back. We tried Bún Chả at the Bún Chả Đắc Kim. While it was delicious, they should reduce the quantity of the serving as there is so much wastage. Even the Europeans couldn't finish the servings. We joined 2 tours - city & food on motorbikes and we loved the experience especially since the weather in Hanoi is milder than in HCMC. Next time around it would be best to visit during the colder months and do a side trip to Sapa.
