I loved the staff. The best service I have gotten anywhere and I travel a lot. They hooked me up with my tour to Ninh Binh and other guests for Ha Long Bay and Sapa, gave me recommendations for food places and were always available to help with anything. They waited with me till my Grab to the airport arrived when I was leaving and even communicated with the driver for me in their local language. I thought that was above and beyond. And the breakfast is really good (worth waking up early on a vacay for) and the room itself has everything you could possibly need, and is reasonably sized. Not too small, but not big either. Bathroom is good quality and clean. Water was excellent (i like hot showers and never had issues).
Boasting a fitness centre, a terrace as well as a bar, Shining Central Hotel & Spa is set in the centre of Hanoi, 300 metres from Thang Long Water Puppet Theater.

All the staff is really nice and polite. The room and bathroom are clean and tidy. Breakfast is really good with a lot of options. The view from the rooftop is nice, too. When we came back from Sapa, the air con was broken. They moved us to another room and provided free transportation to the airport as compensation. It was really nice of them to treat us with care. The location is great, close to everything. We did 2 tours (Sapa and Ha long bay), and both of them picked us up and dropped us off, because of the location. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Ha Noi itself is my favourite place at present. It is also a great base for the north in general. I stayed in the 'old quarter' I love the busi-ness and ordered chaos and noise and smells. Just google what to do in Hanoi, it's endless. Book a walking food tour and have the guide take you to amazing back lanes and experience culinary delights. Find a tour guide and jump on the back of their scooter and let them take you places. It's a happy place. Take an overnight train to Sapa. Spend a night on Ha Long Bay. Do a day trip to Bihn Nihn. Then come back and re-immerse in Ha Noi.

Typical South Eastern asian city.
Typical South Eastern asian city. Not much must-see sights but busy, with good food and good vibe to spend a few days.
We stayed in the Old Quarter, but it's a tourist trap. Bad expensive food. Little food variety. We are harassed by their aggressive staff to dine in their restaurants.

Café hopping & Old Town if you stay in the centre, stay close to the old quarters but just on the border as it is super touristy and most locals in those places will try to scam you any time they can.

Hanoi is a great city to visit.
Hanoi is a great city to visit. From a cultural prospective there are many tours taking you to see local crafts and a local way of life.
Hanoi and Vietnam has so much more to offer than just its war past.
The restaurants offer great food at a very reasonable price though be prepared to meat parts of the animal not always seen in other western dishes. Local taxis are very cheap. As Hanoi can be very hot, don't feel bad about asking for ride of only a few city blocks.
Do visit the water puppet show in the heart of old Hanoi and walk the streets. You are not a walking wallet in this city.

Hanoi was the real Asian experience - old quarter was truly amazing with a blend of new and ancient buildings. The train street was amazing poachers on the street to take you to their restaurants on the train line - use them, buy a drink have a meal - the train comes at 8pm, get there early. we got there at 6.15 hoping for the 7pm train - lies its at 8 but well worth it. Take a table on the so called foot path or you will have to move tables chair etc when the train passes - probs 1/2mtr of space to stand. The Hoàn Kiếm Lake was amazing, live music, food stalls, street artists - the place to be at night.
By comparison between Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi - I felt like I had to be more aware of my bag in Hanoi, its fast paced and so many things happening all at the same time. HCMC is similar but more space around you, so I was more at ease

We enjoyed walking around the old quarters, especially during weekend. the roads were closed that make us enjoyed walking and experience the local culture and crowds. Good foods and shopping.
Unfortunately we went during summer time which was very hot during day time.
We had a great stay. Hotel is Very clean and so elegant.
The hotel lobby is a work of art and so cozy .
The staff was very helpful. They was particularly attentive giving us great recommendations and making us feel very welcome.
They have very nice skybar and beautiful view of Hanoi !
The location of the Amira Hotel is great, near many things that we wanted to see in old quarter. Very efficient and clean. Best bed i ever slept in.
Highly recommend. Would stay here again.
The hotel is clean and very comfortable. We were given free upgrade to premier room and complimentary drinks at the Bar. Location is within walking distance to many eateries and to the old quarters. We wanted a hotel away from the bustling of the traffic and yet near to the old quarters for a good night rest after touring the city. Melia Hanoi is definitely the best choice. Highly recommended!
Great hotel gym, awesome staff, good breakfast and nice location in the heart of the old quarter of Hanoi. It's definitely one of the best hotels in Hanoi. The rooftop bar is amazing too even though a bit pricey but that's not very uncommon for a rooftop bar so not something negative.
Hotel is located in the old quarter of Hanoi and it is very close to train street and other attractions in the city centre.
Room was clean and big enough. Vietnamesse breakfast is server everyday and cafe is located in the lobby.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
