Airlies serve as the historical option of the Monte Vista Boutique Hotel. An environment of warmth and charm is created with friendly hospitality and personal attention. Come and enjoy the tranquility of this popular residence frequently visited by local and international travelers. Conveniently located in the centre of Montagu, Airlies is within walking distance to all restaurants and other places of interest, allowing you to explore freely - even enjoying a glass of wine when dining out - without the need to drive.

Property info

This Scottish heritage house was built in the early 1900’s and has the most beautifully preserved, lead glass doors, high pressed ceilings and wooden floors. Airlies offers 6 well-appointed spacious rooms in the main house and 2 modern garden cottages. All rooms have their own en-suite bathroom and are equipped with all luxuries needed to make your visit a memorable one. Two swimming pools complement the large 1 acre property, featuring ample communal open spaces and manicured gardens with breath-taking views of the Langeberg mountains. Since Airlies Historical House is situated in Bath str. it is within walking distance to explore the historical, cultural and natural landmarks in the area. Here you will find art galleries, museums, shops, restaurants and coffee shops to suit every taste. A scrumptious buffet style breakfast is served daily from our Copper and Coal Room. Delicious candle-lit dinners can be arranged on request, with a choice of the best selected wines in our region. Ample and safe indoor parking provided. Our security is excellent as the premises is covered by CCTV cameras.

Airlies Guesthouse are at the centre of Montagu on Route 62. We take pride in our clean and friendly little town. Restaurants are within safe walking distance and we have enough activities in town to keep you busy. If you prefer just sightseeing or something more strenuous: like rock-climbing, we will organise it for you. Montagu is the western gateway to the Little Karoo as well as the scenic heart of Route 62, the historic link between Cape Town, the Garden Route and Port Elizabeth (ADDO Elephant Park). Montagu is about 2 hours drive from Cape Town. It is the perfect stop for tourists travelling between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth. Port Elizabeth is about 6 hours drive to the east. A unique rural atmosphere distinguishes Montagu as one of the best kept late Victorian agricultural villages in the Western Cape. The many attractions and the fact that Montagu is centrally situated makes it a sought after tourist town and perfect base from where the countryside can be explored. There are a number of hiking trails in the area as well as opportunities for rock climbers. The hot springs just outside of town are very popular.
