Chelmsford Cottage is a charming totally self-contained space nestled in the quiet valley suburb of Essexvale. Experience country living in the city with a 3km of river walk along the Baakens river starting just 100m from our gate. Chelmsford Cottage is ideally situated for the busy business person needing a pit stop, visitors attending to personal matters or the traveller staying a little longer. Close to all essential amenities: 1. Beach 8 km 2. Airport 4 km 3. Shops and Restaurants 2km 4. Schools, hospital, tourist attractions within 6km.
You could call my husband and I gypsies. After living in various far flung places both in South Africa and Africa we have settled in Port Elizabeth. PE is all about easy living ...we walk the magnificent beaches, the dogs dash about with boundless enthusiasm, we stop and chat with strangers about sea conditions. We swim in the sparkling fizzing ocean. On occassion a coffee or a bite to eat is in order. After many years of resisting moving to this town, I just love it.! You, the guest have all the privacy you require. We are on the property 24/7 and available if you require any assistance or just a chat.
Essexvale is an island situated on the Baakens River accessed via a bridge. This gem of a suburb gives you access straight into Settlers Park, a beautiful natural area surrounded by high cliff tops. A 3km walk through the park will lead you to a well-known vibey watering hole for an icy craft beer and further on to the harbour. Being situated in a valley, Chelmsford Cottage gives you the sense that you are in the bush rather than in a city. We are situated between the two main centres of PE. Newton Park, Richmond Hill and the City bowl with schools, hospitals and St Georges cricket grounds are to the east. To the west is the eclectic suburb of Walmer with coffee shops, boutiques and eateries and the airport. A picturesque stroll up the hill or an Uber ride of no more than 5 minutes will get you to where you want to go. The beach is just a little further. Uber is most affordable and reliable with Uber Eats available for food delivery.
