Your hosts, Cilliers and Henk, welcome you to the result of the craziest, most irrational, and totally uncharacteristic decision taken in 2005. Hailing from the world of engineering and academia, and with absolutely no experience in the hospitality industry, the two of us set out on the adventure of a lifetime, with nothing but a little capital, and enormous passion. Today, more than a decade later, we are still the owner-managers of Kingfisher GuestHouse, which is considered amongst the top ten accommodation establishments in Port Elizabeth. Situated in the upmarket beachfront suburb of Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth, Kingfisher GuestHouse is the ideal base for both local and international tourists, academia, and corporate visitors to the Friendly City. Individually decorated, en-suite rooms with private entrances and patios in tranquil surroundings, offer a base where business travellers can unwind after a day at the office, be spoilt with a superb breakfast, and can easily access the centre of Port Elizabeth, and the Port Elizabeth International Airport. Whether for registration or graduation, or for attending one of the many international conferences hosted annually, students, their parents, and academics from all over the world, use Kingfisher GuestHouse as a haven from where they attend activities at both the North and South Campuses of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU). Leisure travellers, who either start or end their trip along the N2 Coastal Route between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth via the internationally renowned Garden Route of South Africa, use Kingfisher GuestHouse as a base for experiencing many of the Eastern Cape of South Africa’s well-known gems.

For the sun seekers, Port Elizabeth’s Blue Flag Beaches, Kings Beach and Humewood Beach, as well as the Mac Arthur Baths, are a stone’s throw away.
