We like the atmosphere in this family guesthouse. The guesthouse is calm, clean with a direct access to the sandy beach. The owner and his wife are very helpful, patient and flexible in helping us to book a ferry/Taxi. All the staff is polite, friendly and always present at the guesthouse. Surfing boards, surfing lesson and scooter are available. The views are amazing directly on the ocean and the jungle. The food is fresh, handmade and delicious.

Dolin Cottage is located on the beachfront of Sorake Beach in Botohilisorake, South Nias. All rooms have a terrace with views of the sea. It was a nice mix of traditional and modern. It's located right at the exit of Sorake surf spot, so it's a great spot for surfing. There's a terrace in front of each room, so you can sit, relax, and watch the surfers. Next door to the Dolin Cottage is a restaurant called 'BEOS PUB', where almost everything is generally good. I highly recommend the seafood pasta.

We do not accept room orders if guests have ordered jungle trekking with another company, for some reason, our room only available for guests who book activities with us. Beautiful property on the river. Our room was so comfortable, clean and beautiful as well. We loved the staff. Obiwan was very communicative and helpful. Thank you!

Mylan and Megan are fantastic hosts. They made us feel at home and part of the family. Mylan's surf knowledge is invaluable - he knows all the spots to fit whatever surfing level and will paddle out and surf with you. Getting in and out of a surf spot is as important as the wave quality. Talking story with Mylan was special, he's so worldly and we had so much in common of surfing experience. Megan and my wife had a great time - Megan is such a kind and considerate person. The ambiance was special with the property layout and vegetation integrated the magically delicious dinners. If you don't have a car they have motorscooters for rent or you can go in their big surf van for a surf adventure. We've traveled the world and highly recommend staying at Rumah Nalu!

The rooms are also still very basic, so if you're looking for luxury, this isn't a hotel for you. However, if you are looking for warm hospitality and a relaxing atmosphere in an idyllic setting, then this might be the place you are dreaming of. The adjacent Bagoes Café 'n' Resto serves delicious food, delicious juices and cold beers. And as you gaze across the calm waters of Lake Maninjau, you realize that life isn't so bad after all... Staff is super friendly and can help to arrange your onward transport. Motorbikes and bicycles are for rent if you want to go around the lake. Good to know that the lake is a popular getaway for local tourists and day trippers at weekends, so it can get a bit more crowdy (and noisy) in the guesthouse. During the week you probably have the place almost to yourself and it’s just peace and harmony.
