Hotels near Fynbos Golf and Country Estate, Eersterivierstrand

I booked accommodation here for 18 and 19 December 2018. After a long drive through gravel roads we arrived only to discover that the accommodation was not up to the standard we expected. There was a terrible musty smell in the house. We did not even bother unpacking our car. We went to reception with the hope that there was alternative accommodation. We explained to Johlene at reception that there was no way we could stay in the house as our children were extremely asthmatic and we preempted that the mustiness of the house would trigger their asthma. She was empathetic to our situation but unfortunately she did not have alternative accommodation for us for that night. We asked her if she would please give us a full refund as we would rather sleep in our car than risk our kids' health by spending any time in the musty house. She advised that she would explain the situation to head office and that we will receive a refund. At 7pm that night we drove away in search of alternative accommodation. As it was the festive season we could not find any accommodation. At 8pm that night we managed to get accommodation but it was 90 mins away from where we were. After a long drawn-out email battle with Fynbos Golf and Country Estate, we were only reimbursed for one night's accommodation. As Johlene gave us the assurance that we will be fully refunded for both nights, we willingly left the estate in the middle of the night, once again driving away on that 8km stretch of gravel road in pitch darkness to find alternative accommodation. Had we been informed that only one night would be refunded to us, we would've spent the night in the car (to avoid an asthma attack) and we would've left the following day.
