At the lodge you will find a restaurant serving Chinese, Malaysian and Grill Bbq cuisine. Vegetarian and halal options can also be requested. The staff really go out of their way to make your stay special. The guide is knowledgeable and makes every effort to find memorable wildlife encounters. GreenHouse EcoLodge

Mantanani Island

Located in Mantanani Island, GreenHouse Lodge provides accommodation with access to a garden. The property boasts reusable plastic materials, using energy-saving lighting and conserving rainwater.

Some units feature a terrace and / or a patio with sea or garden views. Amazing experience! Probably the most unique and beautiful places I have ever had the fortune to stay. Silk sand and crystal clear water! Sook Peng and Fred are wonderful and kind hosts who help to ensure a brilliant stay. They help to organize all the travel arrangements from your lodgings in Kota Kinabalu to the island via car and boat, and it all worked seamlessly. The food that Sook Peng cooked was simply fantastic and some of the best I have had during my whole trip. The lodge is very unique and they take their environmental responsibility very seriously. Staying on the island is a once in a lifetime experience. It’s completely deserted apart from a small village and there are lots of different activities one can do. (Kayak, snorkel, diving, guided walks). We did bonfires at night and spent the days in hammocks just meters from the beach as the local island cows wandered past.

Kinabatangan Wildlife Lodge

Sandakan

Situated in Sandakan in the Sabah region, Kinabatangan Wildlife Lodge features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking.

There is a private bathroom with bath and a hairdryer in each unit, along with slippers.

The nearest airport is Sandakan Airport, 116 km from the lodge. Kinabatangan Wildlife Lodge (KWL) is truly a unique place! I’ve been traveling to many countries and sleeping in many hotels, lodges or hostels and can tell you that if you are an openminded and adventurous person looking for place to feel like at home from the very first moment, meet a lot of great people and most importantly see huge variety of wildlife - look no further, that' the right one :) So let me split this review to couple of topics: 1. Atmosphere: 12/10. The staff is amazing, super helpful, caring, open, all speak good English, you can feel like being part of their family immidiatly. The guides, Hastlan and Kairo, have a lot of good stories to tell over the evening so do not hesitate to ask them. Rest of the people in the lodge were also super friendly and open and open and I think that was what made our trip (apart from wildlife) ;) 2. Wildlife: 12/10. What can I say, just check the pictures. We were extremely lucky to see Borneo big five (first orangutans only after first 5min of the first cruise), otters fighting crocodiles, monitor lizards, proboscus monkeys, thousands of makakies and birds, huge crocodiles, beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the river, things of unimaginable beauty... all of this would not be possible without having very knowledgeable guides with eyes like an eagles :) Thank you Hastlan and Kairo! 3. Rooms and food: 10/10. Rooms were clean, had comfortable beds and were generally nice looking. The ac was working really great (trust me you'll need it for hot afternoons). What you are getting in comparison to the other lodges in the area (usually no ac, smaller, less good-looking rooms) is really good. Just remember, this is not Europe or US and this is not a Mariot hotel, but it is definitely one of the best options (if not the best) in the area. The food is fabulous, local, fresh, house made with lot of vegetables. Feels like having lunch or dinner at local family having great cook :)

Maglami-lami Water House

Semporna

Featuring sea views, Maglami-lami Water House in Semporna features accommodation and a restaurant.

There is a fully equipped private bathroom with bidet and slippers.

The lodge offers a sun terrace. Just living on the water. No sand, no bugs, just simple wooden floor and tourquise sea beneath your feet. And the staff is just one of a kind. If you need anything, they are there to assist you. But if you want your mind to chill, they just let you be. No small talk, no pretended kindness, no hustle. Perfection.

Tampat do Aman

Kudat

Surrounded by lush greenery, Tampat do Aman offers accommodation in Kg Tiga Papan, 30 km from Kudat. This property offers pick-up services at an extra charge (please see fine print).

All units include a seating area with views of the rice paddy fields. Bed linen is provided. Had a great two nights stay in this nature paradise. Howard, the owner, has a deep knowledge of the region and its culture. He will make your stay super easy going and can drop you around if you have no vehicle. Accommodation is very basic and that's exactly why you're going there! If you are scared of little insects, you shouldn't be in Borneo at the first place so move on! Thanks for this stay, loved the refreshing shower after a hot day! Wish you all the best for your future plans.
