Interesting town with cultural heritage.
Interesting town with cultural heritage. I was just passing through en route from Italy to London but it is a perfect stopover for one night. Unfortunately I was there on a Monday, when some attractions eg the castle are closed but I did visit the cathedral. There are many restaurants which sell local produce.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Aix-les-Bains is a very pleasant town on the shores of the biggest lake in France: Lake Bouget. There are lots of restaurants and places to visit including a Casino, mountains and water sports. If you can, we recommend you try the boat cruse around the lake and include a meal on board.Guest review byBarryUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Great for cheaper and more spacious accommodation and ten minute trip up the hill in the regular funicular to get to Arc 1600. Saves a 50 minute car drive, especially if snowy or time is key. Though usually no snow itself in Bourg. Pretty old town and a functional new town on parallel street. Big supermarkets for stocking up.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Loved this resort!
Loved this resort! Great variety of ski runs for all grades of skiers . Lifts of high quality lifts & many options for getting down the mountain if you re just out of steam & don’t want to ski home. A high energy resort with live music in the bars apres ski.Guest review byMarella - 10.0
It’s one of the premiere ski resorts for a reason.
It’s one of the premiere ski resorts for a reason. Huge ski area, that never disappoints. We have skied Val for over 16yrs, and always find ourselves coming back. A few of the livelier places in town have disappeared over the last few years so it’s not quite the Apres ski town it used to be. But as we are getting older we don’t miss them as our days of being out all night are behind us. So the fact there are lots of nice restaurants for the evening is right up out street nowadays as opposed to loud bars and nightclubs.Guest review byGarethUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The ski area is great for everyone.
The ski area is great for everyone. There are plenty of green and blue slopes as well as more challenging runs and snowparks for the advanced skiers. The transportation and lifts are well run and were not too busy despite it being half-term. Good snow on the higher runs. Do not expect English to be spoken, it's a very French resort. Great restaurants and takeaway options, as well as traiteurs selling readymade meals, rotisserie chickens and lots of delicious local cheese and wine.Guest review byRuthUnited Kingdom - 10.0
It's a very nice little town.
It's a very nice little town. I was mainly for cycling, there are plenty of options nearby. I loved the place for that. I will go back next year. We ate kebabs and pizza in the surrounding restaurants, and sometimes we cooked in the apartment. We did not use public transport, or traveled by car or bicycle. There is a kebab place two corners down, the maxi tacos, you have to try them, they are very delicious.Guest review byMátéHungary - 10.0

I was motorcycling the Route des Grandes Alpes with a friend. This hotel was at a convenient location after descending the col de Izoard at the end of our first full day. The temperature outside was 34c. The hotel provided exactly the kind of break we needed after quite a demanding day. After food and refreshment, a good nights sleep and a superb breakfast we felt well prepared for our next day's riding. I'd recommend this stop to anyone else doing the same trip!Guest review byAnonymous - 2.0

i would not stay in this hotel as they are fake and not helpful. they keep on saying we are sorry and than they dont do anything about it. and becareful when you use their concierge service, they charge you %5 for every charge and the ski instructors they find charge you whatever they feel like even though you stay with them for 3 hours, dont invite them to lunch as we did, he charged us for his time and the hotel didnt do anything about it.Guest review byDenizTurkey - 8.0
I lived in Chambery for a year 20 years ago.
I lived in Chambery for a year 20 years ago. It is the ideal blend of bigger town conveniences and smaller town authenticity. At first drive or walk through, you might think “pass”. But if you get out and start to walk around the central heart of town and also realize the history here, you discover Chambery’s charm.Guest review byRachelUnited States
