The food is mainly from the garden and is very tasty and fresh. You can organise all the trips from here: caiman tour with Roberto "el pellón" is a must do. Indio maíz with Don Secundino was also very nice. Rio San Juan region is definitely one of my favourite destination in Nicaragua.

You can listen to and observe a lot of birds, including colibris, and enjoy the peaceful nature. Saul is a super attentive host. He provided us with a lot of helpful information on options for tours in the area and how to get to the place from San Carlos and even organized our transport to the cabin from the port of El Castillo. So our tour of Indio-Maiz was all organized before our arrival and turned out great. The adjacent farm is super cool as well, he gave us a little tour for free explaining how he keeps the bees and showed us the cacao plants and more. The project of building an organic agroforest in this area is super interesting.

We stayed for two nights, once after arriving on the bus from Managua and then again when returning on the boat from El Castillo. It is in the perfect location for the bus terminal and boat port (2 minute walk). The rooms are basic but clean. Great value for money.

We spent 2 weeks at the Posada Oasis and truly enjoyed every second of it. Absolutely marvelous place, a true idyllic Oasis. Located in a beautiful huge garden, full of splendid flowers, fruit trees and tropical plants. Our hosts, Alba and Oscar, were simply wonderful. They kept showing us interesting animals and plants in the garden, treated to some delicious local fruit and even invited us to plant 2 trees :) We had some nice interesting talks with both of them, they were very helpful, considerate and caring at all times, from the moment we arrived till seeing us off to the bus. Thank you so much for everything!!!± Their daughter Carla, sons and grandsons helped around the property too and were always extremely accommodating and nice. There was a perfect balance of providing guests with privacy and being close enough at all times to assist if needed. A local shop is around 10 minutes walk. We cooked our meals in a lovely shared outdoor kitchen, very well equipped. Strong 2 fans in the room, very comfortable bed, nice bathroom with big shower. Regular housekeeping. Amazing hammock on each porch, I could spend hours in there, just chilling and admiring the beautiful garden and numerous hummingbirds and butterflies. Lack of multiple lights = wonderful night sky, we saw Milky Way and ridiculous amount of stars.

Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Hotel de Campo is located in Caño Negro Wildlife Reserve in Alajuela. Free WiFi access is available in this property in limited areas. The host was super nice, helpful and a great cook! The rooms are confortable, located in lush greenery. The host organized an early morning boat tour at our request which is well worth it. I recommend it.

The hotel is tastefully set in beautiful natural surroundings. The staff team were very helpful is organising our trips & arranging breakfast to go for a very early start. Food was wonderful.

We had an incredible stay at this wonderful family hotel. The surroundings are beautiful and very close to the large wetlands. There was a laguna only a few meters down form our room where we also spotted many species of bird. By taking a boat up the river you can see even more varieties of birds, caimans, and turtles. Cano Negro is one of our favorite places to visit in all of Central America due to its beautiful nature and diversity of birds. We will definitely come back in the future! Noteworthy, the family also offer dinner which was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!
