Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

I chose Hotel Caroline as it was within an easy walk of the main train station for Vienna. Other highlights such as The Belvedere are only a short walk further on. I was also able to easily walk to the Schonbrunn from the hotel.The mall between the hotel and the station included many good food and cafe options. So location was great. The room was quite large, clean and pretty good, all for a reasonable price. Staff were also friendly and helpful

No problems to complain about
The property was very clean, staff always pleasant and helpful. We had no problem going to the centre as the metro was only 5 mins walk and there was a bus stop outside the hotel.

The staff were very pleasant and most helpful. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk from the metro which is 3 stops from the centre of Vienna. The continental buffet was always well stocked and kept me going until dinner time

Spacious and comfortable room, good location (close to the train station, nearby is an authentic Austrian inn for local residents), the staff guarantees high-quality service, and a good breakfast. I regret that we stayed only one night (transfer after a flight from Central Asia to Poland).

The included breakfast was delicious, so many choices. We were fortunate enough to get our room upgraded to the deluxe suite, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, offering to store our luggage after checkout.

Clean large rooms, great breakfast, friendly staff. Before I booked this hotel, I read some not so great reviews about the neighborhood. I have to say it was quiet, clean and easy to get to by metro ( preferred transport). Supermarkets, shops such as H&M in the area, banks etc, so in the end a decent neighborhood.The staff at breakfast were great and the food delicious and fresh.

We would always find our room clean and tidy when we returned, but the floor needed more meticulous sweeping. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, however we would appreciate more variety.
The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The front0desk staff was very helpful and polite (they even provided me with an adaptor to charge my power bank).

The location I would say is a bit out of the way. However, a two min walk gives you access to the trams that take you the the main train station and other tourist places. So, I wont call it that bad.
Great Breakfast provided. Room was spacious and clean. The bed was really comfortable. The staff were friendly and we had a good time at the property.

- On the windows there are no real blinds or curtains to make the room really dark during the night. - The neighborhood (Gudrunstraße/ Favoriten) is honestly not the nicest part of Vienna (to live there). But it is still very safe and completely fine if you are coming here as a tourist. We are already planning our next trip to Vienna and I would definitely book this hotel again.
- The staff of the hotel is great; everyone was super polite, from the receptions to the ladies that who work in the kitchen - Breakfast is really good - We got an old room (not yet renovated), but it was still great and really spacious; we got even a free upgrade compared to what we reserved - Very central location - great connections to all parts of Vienna. We were here with two small kids, so it was important for us to easily reach all tourist attractions, as well as our friends that live in remote parts of Vienna (suburbs) and it was really super easy from this location.

Wi-fi could be better as it dropped sometimes but that was not such an issue.
We really loved our stay. The location is quite communicative - tram stop nearby, main station is 10 minutes away walking. Our room was quite large - beds were comfortable, the bathroom was also big and convenient. Even though we only stayed 2 nights, they cleaned our room on the second day. Breakfast was also nice. The staff was very polite and professional.
