To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Lovely apartment, super quiet. Close to public transport, but a solid 2.5km to walk to sights. (This is clear in description)

United KingdomBathroom smelled very badly, I think it’s either mould or something in the pipes. The hair dryer didn’t work. The bedroom’s window goes to building’s corridor so it’s quite noisy when someone leaves or enters the building.
Great location with easy connection to the centre and very detailed description of how to get to the property. The kitchen/living room is nice.

RomaniaWe arrived late at the apartment, had good reviews on booking, but when we arrived we were shocked. A strong sewer smell from the bathroom that did not subside throughout the accommodation. When I entered the bathroom, there were all kinds of winged gangsters and ants. In the bedroom in the corner of the bed and on the wall was a mound with many, dozens of ants and even winged ants. I couldn't use the bedroom because of the winged ants and gangs that were everywhere, because of the horrible smell of sewage that was in the bathroom and throughout the bedroom. The linen in the bedroom smelled bad and was not freshly washed. I only had one person's towel for my face and body, and that one was smelly and had no clean smell. We slept in the living room, put on our own bed linen found in the closet. There were ants behind the living room bed but less, but there was a lot of dust under the couch, it had been gathered there for a very long time. My husband was stabbed in a needle that fell on the carpet in the living room, and then the next day I found another needle. If a minimum of cleaning was done, those needles would be tight. After I left the accommodation the owner sent me a message by booking asking me why I used bed linen in the living room and accusing me that there were more people there than I booked. I explained nicely that in the bedroom you could not sleep because of the large number of ants that were in bed, under the bed, on the walls, in the bathroom, on the carpet, in the closet, everywhere and I even sent him pictures. The owner denied and said that he cleaned carefully just a day before our accommodation. Then at 1 o'clock he apologized and told us that he did not know what had happened and that the ants had probably entered the window 1 day ago. I honestly doubt that one day hundreds or even dozens of ants would enter a window. I do not recommend accommodation, for us it was an ugly and sad experiente.
The apartment is equipped with everything you need, check in quickly.
