Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Having to shop for basics on arrival - tea, coffee, sugar, cooking oil. Kitchen scissors would be a useful addition. All of these are available in similar properties in my experience. The second bedroom is subject to noise from the HWS heat pump, making it hard to sleep in it when the unit runs, which it did for many hours one night, necessitating sleeping on the settee. I thought the display photos made the property appear larger than it actually is. On arrival I wondered if this really was the property I booked.
A very good location close to amenities. Very quiet. It is well placed for the board walk on the East and path on the West of the promontory and very close to the "village green" with marina, pub, cafes and convenience shop.

It was perfect for three and could have easily fit footrest comfortably . So close to the central shops but still very quiet and peaceful

The property was classed as dog friendly but only if the dogs are outside. This should be made known in the original advertisement and not only after the booking has been made in fine print.

This is not a criticism - more of a suprise..... and something we haven't experienced. On arrival at other AirB&B's there's always been tea bags/coffee, milk & sugar to have a drink on arrival - thankfully we took our own There was no welcome booklet, or any information about the property (how to use the AirCon) or any local knowledge about secret spots to visit in Metung or surrounding areas Having said all this - it won't stop us visiting again or recommending the property to others :)
The location was perfect and, the cleanliness was great. Having the ability to have a miriad of kitchen utensils to be able to cook ourselves was great.

That back steps are very step and could be a hazard for children.
The property was perfect for us. Clean and comfortable and in a great location. Best of all is that it is dog friendly.

Couldn't open carport door, but didn't mind parking outside in quiet street.

We did not receive an SMS for the key code, when we tried to ring the contact number, nothing happened and had to drive to Lakes Entrance to get the code. The heater didn't work, nor did the WiFi, the manhole cover in the laundry fell down to the floor and nearly hit my wife. The administration sucks.
The location was excellent, 200 meters from the town centre. The rooms and facilities provided were also excellent,

the application form was ridiculous and required a lot of information that I suspect is not in line with privacy legislation. staff were difficult to contact in the event of any issues, of which there were a couple. you ring a phone number and can only leave a message which is ignored. the number you need to call is not advertised anywhere.
