Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaThe staff were lovely. The hotel is charming. We were upgraded, which sounded good..... but the room was downstairs, spacious, comfortable and well equipped, but something of a posh dungeon. One window looked out on to a small courtyard obscured by a cane screen. Not a bad spot for a sleep, and ok as we were only in for one night, but no good for a several night stay. A tip for management... Ask restaurant staff to wear soft sole shoes if they use the stairs passing these rooms. Somebody clattered up and down the stairs very early, presumably preparing for breakfast.
Excellent location. Walked out the door, turned right, and there are the Rocks Sunday markets, just a very short stroll away.. Circular quay, not much further. From there, the whole of Sydney is accessible by ferry or train. All just a short walk from the hotel.

AustraliaFor a five star hotel the level of cleanliness, fixtures and room amenities was poor. In my room the carpet was stained, the toilet had seen better days (maybe upgrade to a more robust seat), and the main shelf to put your toiletries was situated so close to the faucet spout that brushing your teeth was a challenge. There was no expresso machine in the room, just some Nescafe sachets (that weren't resupplied as I used them - and nor was the milk). There was no bottled water provided. Just not great for such a pricey hotel. That said, my room was large and comfortable and I liked the outlook.
Staff were super friendly and very helpful. I really did not like the first room they put me in (dark, small and there were mould stains on the ceiling) but when I asked they moved me promptly to a much nicer room with natural light and a nice outlook. The building is very old and has all the character that goes with that. The terrace bar area is lovely and overlooks a pretty laneway where they have live music in the afternoon/evening. Great place to relax with a glass of wine. The location is superb, within easy walking distance of many of Sydney's best attractions and close by good public transport - which is important as there's nowhere to park nearby.

AustraliaThe bathroom is tiny, so could be awkward if travelling with someone that's not family. It worked for us but was quite tight that we couldn't get dressed in there.
Location is amazing. The creperie downstairs is AMAZING too. The building has so much charm, it was a wonderful experience. Very luxe feeling with the space and the toiletries in the room etc. Simply beautiful

United KingdomThe first room we were shown to had a bad, stale smell and although the receptionist offered us some room spray, our only real option was to move into a much smaller room which smelt fresh - so we did. We had a total of 3 different rooms during our 6 night stay, which was partly our fault by booking two lots of 3 days. In each room there were problems in the bathroom, ranging from nowhere to put a toiletries - just a v small shelf above the basin and nowhere else for anything. Also nowhere to hang damp towels, and then in our final studio room the bathroom was the same size as our first bedroom but with just one basin, a toilet and an open shower, masses of empty space and dirty looking water stained tiles because the water went everywhere. Also the bedside tables were thick with dust - yuck. Finally a small thing but a complimentary bottle of water would have been very welcome in what was one of the best rooms.
Great location in the old part of Sydney. Lots of bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Very close to circular quay for ferries and trains. A lovely old heritage building with a charming book-lined reception.

AustraliaThat the hotel doesn't have reservations for car parking at Wilson Parking across the road, unlike the hotel up the road which nicely caters for their guests. We arrived and found it stressful as all car spots were taken and it took up a significant amount of time to finally grab a spot.
Location, history of the building, great room size, bed was comfy and the premises clean.

AustraliaThe hotel accommodation is quite expensive. There is no price break provided for weekend parking at the Wilson car park. There are no extras provided in the room for example bottled water, snacks, paper, pen etc.
Can't beat the convenience of the Harbour Rocks Hotel location - very central and easily accessible by car or train. The room and bathroom were a decent size. The shower was great.

United KingdomTwo of plug sockets were coming off the wall and didn't work (left of bed and under desk). Carpet had stains just inside door which was a bit off-putting. Bedside table was very dusty.
Location excellent. Liked the quirkier style of the hotel. Terrace was lovely and a real bonus. Best were the staff who were excellent. Very friendly, efficient and extremely helpful.

Australiaunfortunately our room was downstairs a tad small even though I booked 11 months ago. The room overlooked a terrace where other guests can gather . I had to close the blinds during the day while getting ready to go out and the lighting was very dim. The first morning I was woken up by a few people talking directly outside the door which I find pretty rude to do that .
This historic building is beautiful, reception are brings you back in time. we were welcomed by a lovely lady and nothing was a problem as we arrived a little early. location was perfect, an easy walk to the light rail and the harbour . highly recommend the crepe place for lunch .
