My stay at 14 Lovel Street was amazing. I spent almost a week here and it's the most perfect place to really disconnect, unwind and relax. After a day's exploring and hiking in the Blue Mountains, it was wonderful to come back to the hostel for a much needed shower and then to chill out and chat to other travelers before planning the next day's adventures. The hostel is gorgeous inside- stunning murals and art adorn the walls and there are many books to read, cosy throws and blankets to keep you warm on slightly chillier evenings and comfortable communal areas to relax in. The kitchen was excellent- very well equipped and with an excellent system in place for keeping one's food separate from everyone else's. My room was lovely- the bed was very comfortable and I slept exceedingly well every night! I really appreciated the drawers in my bedroom ( very convenient for clothes and toiletries) and all the hooks to hang towels, etc on. The hostel has a very relaxing, cheerful and welcoming air to it and it can truly be a home away from home where you meet wonderfully, interesting fellow travelers from all walks of life. As an added bonus, there is a fabulous covered wrap around verandah where you can chill out and some lovely outdoor tables and chairs at which to enjoy an alfresco meal, especially on a balmy late summer's evening. From here, the Blue Mountains is your oyster to explore, offering breathtaking scenery in the form of the Blue Mountains National Park (lookouts, waterfalls and ample hiking opportunities abound) or you can hop on the train and go and explore the nearby towns, walk around and have a coffee and something to eat at one of the many, many cafés, pubs or restaurants. Great coffee, delicious food and an amazing variety of different ethnic food choices are all on offer.

The best hostel I've ever been so far! Very homey and cozy. I could have seen that the owner really cares about the environment from many little things. Handmade cakes and cookies, free tea and coffe. What else can I say? Just magic!

I absolutely loved this hostel, the staff is amazing and the house is perfect for a cozy stay. I recommend this hostel to anyone who wants to go to the Blue Mountains.

Co-ed washrooms, not a deal breaker but I prefer separate washrooms.

Good size for a nice break away from the city. Good facilities. Close to trains station. Staff are great and able to answer questions, advice on walks. Clean. Nice communal spaces. Hostel friendly vibe.

Not that I « did not appreciate » it, but was surprised that we did not see any staff during our stay. We probably arrived too late and left too early on the next day. Everything was great.

Great location, great facilities and amenities. Very quiet. Charming hostel with a soul, would come back here if I have a second occasion to visit the blue mountains.

There's very little not to like. The location is slightly away from the Katoomba station. It's good to be aware of the mild climb up the hill when getting back to town and the couple of road crossings where extra care is needed, especially when traveling with luggage.

The place is cozy and clean and equipped with convenient facilities for all the traveler's needs. There are helpful resources on hand and in the phone 'app'. The location is decent. Overall, the place is great value for money.

Wifi connection room 9 was poor, the pillows can be better (firmer) and room 9 gets really warm.

Organized homely atmosphere, surpassing expectations.. Great getaway in a peaceful environment suiting all types of travellers on a budget.. The healthy fresh mountain air, abundance of beautiful walking trails,tourist attractions, make Katoomba well worth the trip.. Recommend booking well in advance as this historic cottage is not overcrowded and accommodates only twenty guests..

Nothing really! Still a hostel so bathroom facilities arent luxury, but still clean and thoughtfully presented, a cut above the rest.

The cosiest, most charming hostel I've ever stayed in. Lots of character, affordable, great location. Comfy bed, towels provided. Kitchen system well thought out. Everyone wanted to hike the next day so no loud people after 10pm which was a blessing

For a night owl like me, the 10pm curfew was hard but understandable. Everyone really does stick to it, and the quiet and mutual respect between guests is actually really nice.

Beautiful wooden house and lush property. Friendly proprietor and a good vibe amongst the guests. The comfiest bed and a great en-suite shower!

The place was beautiful, cosy, and we felt right at home as soon as we arrived. The kitchen and bathroom facilities were great, the place was very clean. Outdoor area was lovely and sheltered even in the rain. Annette was so friendly and helpful too; we had a fantastic stay here and wish we'd had time to stay longer!

Nothing, i really loved this place.

I loved the cozy style, like staying at someone's home, which encouraged a natural respect. The choice of beautiful travel books available (one written by the owner!) And loved the artwork in the hallways. The bathroom's were fabulous, like showing in an indoor rainforest! Also the native gardens around the verandah and the fairy lights welcoming you home in the evenings. Everything you need is there, and more (free earplugs!)
