Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomGreat experience in a favela. Really nice community. Amazing breakfast with lots to choice from every morning. It is up a hill so be prepared to be out all day once you go out unless you are fit and like climbing lots of steps or you take uber back up. Local bus nearby too

CanadaI totally loved the favela. At the beginning I was a bit impressed and I though I will need to take Uber all the time but I always got my way around. There is actually a metro not far a way if you go down the favela. The favela is super nice and people are super nice. They will always help you to find your way if you are lost. The staff is also very nice. I felt at home. Everyone were super nice during my stay. During the day I walked around Sante Teresa, you can also take the bus 007 or 006. I always felt safe. The view from the rooftop is amazing. I think staying in a favela is a great experience, you see Rio differently.

GermanyThere was no more welcome caipirihna, and they sell no drinks at all, so that if you arrive late at night, there's no shop open. I had the impression that they somehow neglect some minor maintenances: for example, both chairs on my balcony were broken. In the evernings, there's not much to do in the walking distance, but Uber works excellently.
The view from the balcony cannot be better. From there you'll catch the perfect sunrise and ever-changing mood of the Sugarloaf. And I liked the flexibility of the staff. I was picked up in the deepest night (2:40 am) and on my check-out day, they let me keep the room till late afternoon, because my flight schedule changed at short notice. And the breakfast is decent. The near-by restaurant abcd is very cheap but offer excellent food and view as well, but only open for lunch. At night, it looks quite safe, so that you really don't need to be afraid. The proper Brasilians say this Santa Teresa area is actually safer than Copacabana or Ipanema area.

United KingdomThe location can be a little difficult if you need to get into town.
Well, the view over Rio is quite something and the people running the hostel were warm and friendly. The place is comfortable and a little off the beaten track. It's not difficult to find and I'd say that this place is perfect if you'd like some time to just relax and stay local. Unfortunately, I missed the breakfast because I went out early, but, with this included, it's great value for money.

United KingdomConstructive feedback - a bin in the room (other than bathroom) would have been helpful!
An amazing experience - I’m so pleased we chose to stay here. It is very close to Santa Teresa neighbourhood which has bars, restaurants and lovely cobbled streets. We found using Uber very easy and unlike other reviews we had none cancelled - they drop you at the start of the Favella and it is then a 5 minute walk to get to the accommodation. Lots of reviews mention the steep hills - you won’t get fantastic views like this without hills! And the views make any hill worth it. Breakfast was fantastic - fruit, toast, yoghurt etc. Probably one of the best value for money places I’ve ever stayed!

GermanyYou need to understand that this accommodation is a bit far away. At times there will be airplanes crossing very close above the accommodation (more of an issue for double-rooms as shared rooms are located in basement).

RussiaHonestly, this is not so close to the city center as I expected. And it looks like taxi services like uber and 99 dont like this pickup point. We had about 30% of tips cancelled by driver.
Great place to stay! atmospheric, friendly, beautiful views. The breakfast is very good with a variety of fruits and good coffee.
