Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe beach is at the end of Copacabana which is not the best but you are only minutes walk to Ipanema where the hotel has cabanas and a very nice beachside cafe with day beds and beach lounges.
The staff is excellent. The best I’ve seen outside the USA. The view of sugar loaf from the infinity pool is amazing. Happy hour is great with live music every night. If you stay in the Gold Status rooms you can take advantage of a free happy hour with excellent food included. The Brazilian champagne is excellent

United KingdomPerhaps a little more generosity regarding the mini bar; only water and coffee free of charge
Perfectly situated on the edge of Copacabana and Ipanema, the views are absolutely stunning. We had a King Ocean View room and woke up to views of Sugarloaf. The rooms are very spacious and the bed incredibly comfortable, all kept very clean and tidy by housekeeping (thanks Maria and team). Indeed what really makes the place is the staff; exceptionally friendly and helpful with a special mention to Luceanne, a concierge who arranged trips, helped us plan our days and was just a general all round star. Just excellent as was Alfredo and the team on the door and the rest of the staff, just too many to mention individually! General facilities were excellent.

United States of AmericaOnly thing would be a better tequila selection.
Staff was amazing, bed and room were great. The staff come around numerous times a day to refill waters and snack bar. Night time bar is fun with great dj. We originally went to Sheraton to save money. Spent a night and moved to fairmont. Sheraton was disgusting compared to fairmont. Definitely worth the extra bucks. Food was great. Spa was amazing as well

PolandWe tried to find something but everything was very fine ;)
A wonderfully located swimming pool with the most beautiful view of the entire Copacabana and Sugar Head (we also stayed at the Hilton and Pestana). A very tasty and varied breakfast, also with a beautiful view in the background. Live music in the evenings. Nice and neatly designed interior and very helpful staff.

United KingdomI don’t think that the photos are accurate. The pool is small, but space in Copacabana is at an absolute premium. We would far rather stay in this location with a smaller pool, than 20 mins away with a bigger pool.
This is the place to stay in Rio. The location is absolutely perfect, on the edge of Copacabana beach and 5 minutes from Ipanema. We upgraded to receive a balcony facing Copacabana which we highly recommend, it was magical seeing Copacabana and sugar loaf mountain from our balcony. Service is really excellent. Big shout out to a number of concierge specialists including Lionel and the fantastic Maurice. Live music in the evening was also fantastic.

United States of AmericaI had reserved the upper floors and had paid more for it, but when they handed over the room to me, they said that all the rooms on the upper floor are full and maybe they can be moved in the next days (rooms facing the sea). And the next point, unfortunately, the pool facilities are available to the bar and restaurant after 6:00 PM, and you must order food to be able to use those places.

South AfricaWe have a leak in our basin and despite telling the reception desk 4 times (ie Every Single Morning of our stay) they did not fix it. So every time we brushed our teeth or washed our hands & face water would come gushing our of the pipes below and drenching our feet, towels and hair dryer. That made the bathroom quite damp for the entire duration of our stay. Secondly - the space around the swimming pools & restaurant can get very crowded. It felt cramped in the public areas. Thirdly - there need to be more lounge beds on the beach in front of Tropik beach bar. When visiting the beach anytime after 11am there is no place got sit except the bar area. Not ideal for a beach holiday - but the bar is fantastic and staff are great. And the hotel is really a beautiful property - please fix the plumbing and made space for more guests by the pool areas please
