Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaSuch a great stay in an adorable little house. Nice area, quite central, not far from downtown Montreal. There is lots to see and do walking distance from the hotel. The staff are wonderful. The place is quiet and clean. Couldn't ask for more for the value.

United KingdomNothing to complain about. All good.
Unique, charming and cosy sums up this lovely house and accommodation. Louise and Frederic were great hosts and so welcoming. Loved the quaintness and decor of all the rooms and location perfect for bars, restaurants and shops. If you are looking for something a little different, then this is the spot. Would highly recommend if staying in Montreal for a few days.

NetherlandsThe house and the rooms feel very cozy and homey. The location is great, walking distance to a ferry that takes you to Montreal, however other transport options are also available. The shared bathroom wasn’t an issue at all, since we also had a sink in our room and the bathroom was always free when we needed it. Last but not least, the host Louise was extremely nice (and her dog too). She gave us great tips on where to eat and how to get to Montreal. Thank you!

United States of AmericaThe guest house is located on a quiet street in the town center. Restaurants and shopping are very convenient. 5 minute walk to a bus that goes to the Metro. Louise and her son are very hospitable and helpful. The guesthouse is super comfortable and beautifully decorated. Free street parking nearby.

CanadaGood communications with the very pleasant and thoughtful owner. Ancestral house with lots of character, reminding us of Europe without the need for air travel. Less than 2km away from Metro Longueil-Université de Sherbrooke, it’s easy to get to Montréal without the parking and road construction problems. A great place to stay, we will be back for sure whenever we go to Montréal.

United States of Americanot a single thing..everything was wonderful, really.
My daughter and I came for 1 week site visit, to check out Montreal where she'll soon study. We couldn't be happier with Refuge de Poete. Louise has made us feel so welcome since day 1. Because her B&B is very popular and was almost fully booked for the entire week, I reserved 3 different rooms throughout the week in order to stay at the same place. Although we changed rooms 4 times, Louise our hostess, never made us feel like extra work. She's incredibly diligent with the room set up, her sheets & towels smell so good (we even noted the brands), it's so pretty and comfortable here. We could not have been luckier to have found this gem. Only 33 min commute to Universite Concordia. thank you, Louise for such a wonderful 1st time to Montreal.

CanadaThe room was serviceable, clean and comfortable. However, since there was no air conditioning, it was very hot and humid. If I had been staying for longer or on a particularly hot day, it would have been less comfortable. The decor was quirky, but might not be for all travellers.
The owner and her son were kind and amicable. Since I was attending a concert at Parc Jean-Drapeau, the location was perfect, with free street parking very close by and with the park being only one bus ride and one metro stop away. I walked to the metro instead and it was not too far, and a pleasant walk.

United KingdomOnly that we didn’t stay long enough and didn’t order breakfast: we saw another couple have home made breakfast there and it looked and smelled so delicious. :) next time we stay we will make sure we stay for longer and we’ll opt in on that delicious breakfast as well. :)
The cutest, homeliest, nicest little B&B I’ve ever stayed in. The lady owner and her son are so incredibly helpful and kind, the place is pristinely clean, the rooms are so cute! The beds are so comfy, the towels are incredibly soft, I’ve never gotten towels this soft in any accommodation I ever stayed. And there were even bathrobes for us to use! When I first booked it I was a little worried about the shared bathroom because I’m a very private person and I prefer to have an en suite but there was nothing to worry about at all. The bathroom was perfectly clean and tidy at all times, and it was in perfect condition. Plus our room still had its own sink. And we even had little chocolates waiting for us in our room when we arrived! This couldn’t have been more perfect.

CanadaHouse is a little tight in terms of pathways so might be harder to feel comfortable if you are large or claustrophobic. There is a lot of nice decor aswell, so you may have the fear you may knock something over by mistake, so just keep that in mind.
The hosts are very accommodating, the house is homely, everything is provided which includes; towels, laundry, wifi, a mini fridge, bathrobes, blow-dryer even. I would say anything you need is right there. As for location, it is a great neighborhood, some pubs/bars/coffee shops are within walking distance. You even have parking (street) which is really good and it's easy to find parking at all times. You get your own code and room key so you can leave/enter at anytime without any concerns. All in all, a great place to stay.
