Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaI can’t think of anything I would feel needs to be improved. Some might have some criticisms about the street people and the noise from the bar at night, but, in my opinion, these are to be expected and, trying to correct those situations, rather than manage them, would lead to undesirable outcomes.
I like the building and the way it has been maintained - a very special place. He few small flaws are part of the charm.

CanadaThe free parking lot can only accommodate about 8-10 vehicles, so often have to pay to park on the street.
Great atmosphere at the Senator. Can't beat the location if you're looking for something downtown, and it has a decent pub attached as well. Rooms are a bit dated, but always clean. Friendly staff.

CanadaLots of homeless walking the streets begging for money ...in the bar downstairs we ordered food...when we got the food a person approached me to share my meal...
It was an old building with high ceilings and a history...

The front desk staff at check in and check out were both great!! The lady who checked me in was so helpful and patient with me when I had booked the wrong night. We both had a laugh! The morning staff was full of information about the history of the hotel.

CanadaI thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Senator. I loved the breakfast nook, which was a peaceful and enjoyable way to start my day. The room was comfortable and clean. I did take notice of how easy it was to hear my upstairs neighbours/adjoining wall neighbours, but aside from some of the noise, it was very pleasant.

CanadaParking is tense - you need to double-park (often) in a cramped area, leaving keys at the desk. Our TV did not work through a 2-day stay, and the hotel seemed to lack capacity to fix it, with only one person covering all tasks. Continental breakfast is dead-minimal - yogurt, muffins, juice, coffee.
The location is unbeatable, in the midst of old downtown. The building is old but clean.

CanadaWhile we visited on Holiday days, we were lucky to have free parking on the street, the hotel parking at the back being a bit cramped
After so many anonymous places, it is a joy to find a place with so much character! We especially enjoyed the wide corridors, the huge room with its high ceiling and its big windows overlooking the street, the overall decoration. It is ideally located in the middle of downtown, and we were able to walk to the Remai Modern Museum, to restaurants (even though the hotel offers a choice of two restaurants!) and to the Fringe Festival. The staff was pleasant and informative, and, even though we did not expect it, a simple continental breakfast was served in a charming octagonal room.
