Loved the location to the Royal Mile. Loved the outdoor balcony and the views from there. Thought the layout of the room was clever - it wasn't large, but had everything could want or need in a good spot.

The parking situation is frustrating. We rented a car, and while the car park (St James) was very safe, it was a 15 minute walk (about 2/3 mile). We ate dinner one night at the restaurant, and while the service was top-notch, I thought the food was just "average", and not a good value for the price.

The hosts were so warm and welcoming and the room was very comfortable with tea, tea cakes and other amenities that made us feel right at home. The homemade breakfast especially was really good 😊

Unbeatable location right in the middle of old Edinburgh. Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Easy to take a bus to sites that were a little too far to walk to.

The room was very hot and stuffy, despite the staff saying the air conditioning was on. It was quite uncomfortable at times.

Basic room with a nice view of a loch. Good bar facilities, with lots of choices and a friendly bartender who's been there 31 years. Lounge area was quite comfortable.

School hrs limited parking options. Would have liked a brief instruction card for the washing machine. Lack of clothes dryer or hanging options for air-drying. No railing for the staircase. Wouldn't have cared had I not broken an ankle a few weeks back...still a bit weak there. In hindsight, I should have slept downstairs.

Paper thin walls meant I could hear every word of the person next door. Bed not comfortable. Shower did not drain. Parking a mess. No coins available to put in the meter. Difficult to control temperature
